If you dine at Be Our Guest for lunch, you will find that you can use My Disney Experience to place your meal order in advance of your arrival. Then when you check in, you are able to pay at the counter and then go ahead and find a seat while your food is prepared and then brought to your table. This is a super convenient service and helps to control the guest flow for the restaurant. Disney has been working within My Disney Experience to look at expanding this to other restaurants. We have confirmed from Disney that Satu’li Canteen, which will open as part of Pandora: The World of Avatar, will feature Mobile Ordering at the dining location. This new Mobile Ordering will also allow you pre-pay via the app, which will eliminate the need to wait in line to pay at the location. This will all be available via the My Disney Experience mobile app.
The Mobile Ordering will simply allow guests to click “I’m here” when they arrive at the restaurant and that will get their order started in the kitchen. The guest would receive a notification when their meal is ready and where they would go to grab the meal. Satu’li Canteen will be the first restaurant to receive the updated technology, but the long-term plan is to roll this functionality out across other popular quick service locations all around Walt Disney World.
Of course the option to order from the counter will remain, as not all guests will have the app or have a My Disney Experience account set up, but Disney does encourage all guests to create an account. My Disney Experience is even advertised on park maps, on the Disney buses, within the resort info and other places to help educate guests on all of the uses of the application.
