A difficult day at Disneyland Resort left guests questioning what was happening behind the scenes.
Disneyland Resort’s two theme parks offer very different experiences. While Disneyland Park is known for classics such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and Space Mountain, its neighboring park, Disney California Adventure, is home to some of the resort’s biggest thrill rides.

These include Radiator Springs Racers, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, and the Incredicoaster. Other popular attractions include Toy Story Midway Mania!, Grizzly River Run, and The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.
Disney California Adventure has undergone considerable changes since opening in 2001. California Screamin’ became the Incredicoaster in 2018, while The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror made way for Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! in 2017. Other former attractions, including Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train, have disappeared entirely.
However, some of the park’s biggest rides became unexpectedly unavailable on November 4, creating problems for guests hoping to experience its most popular attractions.

Multiple Disney California Adventure Rides Suddenly Shut Down
On Wednesday, November 4, Disney California Adventure guests reported widespread attraction closures, with several major rides simultaneously listed as temporarily unavailable in the official Disneyland app.
A screenshot shared on Reddit showed four attractions out of operation: Goofy’s Sky School, Grizzly River Run, Incredicoaster, and Radiator Springs Racers.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! was the only operational attraction among the five thrill rides displayed in the screenshot, with a posted standby wait time of just 25 minutes.

However, guests claimed that the advertised wait times were not entirely reliable.
“So many of the rides at California Adventure are down right now,” one visitor wrote, adding that cast members had repeatedly warned guests that actual standby lines were twice as long as the times displayed.
The guest also noted that the weather was clear, making the sudden disruption particularly confusing.
Other parkgoers offered possible explanations, including electrical problems, temporary ride faults, and issues with Disney’s operational systems.
“If CMs are actively telling you the wait time is double what it is, then it’s likely a systems issue with Disneyland’s operational command center,” another Reddit user suggested.

That explanation remains speculative. Disney has not publicly confirmed a shared cause for the closures or established whether the inaccurate wait times were connected to the attraction outages.
Some guests also described similar experiences during earlier visits. One visitor claimed that Radiator Springs Racers had been unavailable for much of a previous trip, with repeated breakdowns making it difficult to experience the Cars Land attraction.
Fortunately, the November 4 disruptions did not leave all four rides unavailable for the entire day.
By approximately 4:15 p.m. PST, Radiator Springs Racers was the only one of the four attractions still listed as temporarily closed, according to a subsequent check of the Disneyland app.
The attraction is among Disney California Adventure’s signature experiences, taking guests through the world of Pixar’s Cars before launching into a high-speed race through Ornament Valley.

It also offers Lightning Lane Single Pass access, meaning some guests pay separately for quicker entry rather than relying on the regular standby line.
Further Disneyland Closures Continue Ahead of Holiday Season
The unexpected ride outages came during an already busy period of operational changes at Disneyland Resort.
Elsewhere at Disney California Adventure, Redwood Creek Challenge Trail has been unavailable since November 1. Unlike the November 4 ride disruptions, however, this closure is part of a scheduled refurbishment.
Located in Grizzly Peak, the outdoor attraction features climbing structures, rope bridges, slides, and other interactive activities designed for younger visitors.
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is closed for refurbishment, with the attraction scheduled to reopen on November 13.

The reopening coincides with the start of Disneyland Resort’s holiday celebrations, when the area will once again host Santa Claus and seasonal activities. The location previously featured Villains Grove during the resort’s Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween events.
The wider Disney Festival of Holidays also returns to Disney California Adventure on November 13, running through January 6, 2027. The seasonal celebration features special food marketplaces, entertainment, merchandise, and character appearances.
Meanwhile, visitors navigating Cars Land face another temporary change. Disney’s official website notes that the walkway connecting Cars Land and Avengers Campus is closed amid refurbishment work in the latter area.

The restrictions mean guests must use alternative routes to access Cars Land, including entrances through San Fransokyo Square or the Performance Corridor.
While temporary closures are a regular part of theme park operations, multiple simultaneous ride outages can significantly affect a visit to Disney California Adventure.
The park has fewer rides than neighboring Disneyland Park, leaving guests with fewer alternatives when several headlining attractions become unavailable at once.
There is also the cost to consider. Disneyland Resort tickets can represent a substantial expense for families, particularly when factoring in food, parking, and optional Lightning Lane purchases (which, during the upcoming peak holiday crowds, can feel more necessary than usual).
Disney advises guests to consult the official Disneyland app for attraction wait times, park hours, and operational updates throughout their visit.
