Disney World Faces Major November Shakeup as 3 Popular Experiences Close

November is shaping up to be a busy month at Walt Disney World, but guests planning a vacation should prepare for a few disappointments.

While Disney is getting ready to welcome holiday crowds, several attractions will remain closed for refurbishments. Some will return before Christmas, while others won’t reopen until sometime in 2027.

These closures come during a year filled with major changes across Walt Disney World, including attraction updates, construction projects, and improvements to existing experiences.

Fortunately, Disney has already shared reopening timelines for some of the affected attractions.

Here’s a look at everything currently scheduled to remain closed during November 2026.

Magic Kingdom Loses a Longtime Favorite

One of Magic Kingdom’s most recognizable attractions won’t welcome guests at all this November.

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress closed on July 6, 2026, for a major refurbishment that will completely change portions of the experience.

The attraction has a history stretching back to the 1964 New York World’s Fair, making it one of the most historically significant experiences at Walt Disney World.

For decades, guests have followed an American family through different periods of technological advancement, watching inventions transform everyday life.

However, Disney is preparing to introduce a new version of the show.

The updated experience will feature scenes representing the 1960s, 1980s, 1999, and an imagined future. Disney also plans to introduce a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronics figure during the attraction’s opening sequence.

These additions represent a substantial update to the classic Tomorrowland experience.

Unfortunately, the refurbishment won’t wrap up before the holiday season.

Disney currently expects Carousel of Progress to reopen in spring 2027, meaning guests visiting throughout November and December will need to skip this longtime favorite.

Another Magic Kingdom Attraction Closes November 4

Carousel of Progress isn’t the only Magic Kingdom attraction affected by November’s refurbishment schedule.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will temporarily close beginning November 4, 2026.

The attraction opened in 2024, introducing guests to a musical adventure inspired by The Princess and the Frog (2009).

Featuring familiar characters, elaborate scenery, and a thrilling drop, the ride quickly became an important part of Magic Kingdom’s attraction lineup.

However, guests visiting during most of November won’t have the opportunity to experience it.

The good news is that Disney has already scheduled its return.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is expected to reopen December 18, just before the Christmas holiday rush.

That means visitors arriving during the final weeks of December should have another major attraction available, provided the refurbishment stays on schedule.

Guests visiting November 1 through November 3 may still have a chance to ride before the closure begins.

For everyone arriving afterward, though, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will need to wait until a future trip.

An Entire Disney World Water Park Remains Closed

November’s closures extend beyond Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will remain unavailable throughout the month as the water park continues its annual refurbishment.

Known for its tropical atmosphere, massive wave pool, and collection of water slides, Typhoon Lagoon has long been a popular destination for families looking to take a break from the traditional theme parks.

However, Disney regularly schedules seasonal maintenance at its water parks.

These closures allow crews to complete necessary work before the facilities welcome guests again.

While Typhoon Lagoon remains closed, visitors can still enjoy Disney’s Blizzard Beach.

The water park features a melting ski resort theme, offering slides, family attractions, and other water-based experiences.

Disney hasn’t provided a reopening date for Typhoon Lagoon in the November closure roundup.

For now, guests hoping to spend a day at a Disney water park should plan around Blizzard Beach instead.

What Guests Should Know Before Their November Vacation

Although the scheduled closure list includes only three experiences, visitors should remember that additional attractions can experience unexpected downtime.

Technical problems, weather, and operational issues sometimes cause temporary closures without advance warning.

That’s why checking the My Disney Experience app remains important, especially when planning a busy park day.

Guests should also remember that Disney can adjust refurbishment dates.

For now, Carousel of Progress and Typhoon Lagoon will remain closed throughout November, while Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will close November 4.

The good news is that Walt Disney World will still offer plenty of attractions, entertainment, and seasonal experiences during the holiday period.

However, anyone hoping to experience these particular favorites should adjust their plans before arriving.

With several major improvements underway, November’s closures are another reminder that Disney World’s attraction lineup continues to evolve as the resort prepares for 2027.
