Guests Encounter Changed ‘Ratatouille’ Attraction at Disney World’s EPCOT

Slow down in Paris. That’s the takeaway for anyone heading to EPCOT’s World Showcase soon, because the queue for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has picked up a charming new detail that’s easy to miss if you’re scrolling through your phone.

What’s New in the Queue

Keep an eye on the backlit lattice windows as you make your way through the line. In one of them, a silhouetted scene now shows Remy, Emile, and their friends getting ready for a grand feast. The update arrived without any announcement from Disney and was shared by fan account @DrewDisneyDude, who posted a video on X along with this message:

“New magic has been added to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT! Guests can now spot Remy, Emile, and their friends preparing for the grand feast while waiting in the queue. Silent attraction improvements are the best. 🙌”

Finds like this won’t shorten your wait, but they do make the time pass a little more pleasantly, especially for younger fans of the little chef.

A Quick Refresher on the Ride

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure takes its story from Pixar’s 2007 film Ratatouille. It’s a trackless dark ride, so your ratmobile glides freely rather than following a fixed path. After being shrunk down to rat size, you’ll scurry through Gusteau’s restaurant in Paris, avoid the chefs, and dash across rooftops right behind Remy. If you rode in its earlier years, you may remember the large-scale 3D screens mixed in with the physical sets. Following a closure last year, Disney replaced that 3D element with 2D visuals. Temperature changes and scents along the way still keep you squarely in the middle of the kitchen mayhem.

Where to Find It

The ride is part of the France pavilion and sits within a recreated Parisian square that made the pavilion larger. It debuted on October 1, 2021, the very day Walt Disney World began its 50th anniversary celebration. If the concept feels familiar, Florida’s version is based on the original attraction, which opened at Disneyland Paris in 2014 in the park now called Disney Adventure World.

More Changes on the Horizon

This queue update is modest compared to everything else in the works at Walt Disney World. Magic Kingdom is clearing space for Piston Peak National Park, a Cars-inspired area on the former Rivers of America site, as well as Villains Land, a land dedicated to Disney’s most notorious characters. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Monstropolis is set to bring Monsters, Inc. to life, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom is reimagining DinoLand U.S.A. as the Tropical Americas, complete with attractions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones.

In the meantime, give yourself a reason to look up the next time you’re queuing in Paris.

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
