Brazen Midday Thieves Target Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Contemporary Resort Area

A theft report in the Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Contemporary Resort area drew deputies to Walt Disney World Resort in the middle of Thursday’s busy afternoon. The call was classified as grand theft, a label tied to the value of what was reportedly taken.

At 1:03 p.m. on October 15, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a report of grand theft. The X (formerly known as Twitter) account @WDWActiveCrime, which monitors police activity in and around Walt Disney World Resort, shared the public scanner entry, writing:

🚨 Police Alert 🚓 – 10/15/26 1:03 PM
🚨: Grand Theft at 📍: Magic Kingdom / Contemporary Resort Area
#WaltDisneyWorld #Disney

The scanner listing covers a broad zone, not a single address. A Google Maps image attached to the post shows a pin along World Drive, between Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Contemporary Resort, but responses in this part of the property are regularly logged under that same address. So the pin doesn’t confirm where anything happened. The incident could have occurred inside the original Central Florida Dinsey park, at the Deluxe Disney Resort hotel, or on the walkway between them.

In Florida, a theft becomes grand theft once the property or currency involved is valued at $750 or more. That threshold is the only detail the classification provides, since the public report doesn’t say what was stolen or how much it was worth beyond that line.

What’s Still Unclear

Officials haven’t shared what was taken, how many suspects may be involved, or whether they were guests, cast members, or passersby.

Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t commented, which is typical for law enforcement responses on its property. A police report or criminal charges from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office could eventually add detail.
