Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts remain deep into a multi-year refurbishment, and the project has now reached a point where it’s changing the way guests physically enter the building.
The work touching both connected EPCOT-area resorts has been rolling out in phases rather than all at once, which means one wing of the property can look freshly finished while another sits behind equipment and tarps. Walt Disney World has crews on the exteriors of both hotels currently, with the overall timeline stretching into 2027.
Disney has been upfront that this won’t be an invisible process. The company’s own construction notice for the resort states plainly that guests should expect signs of the work throughout their stay. The two hotels are on separate schedules within the larger project: Yacht Club is slated to wrap by late 2026, while Beach Club’s exterior work is expected to continue roughly a year longer, into late 2027.
The language on the official Walt Disney World website spells out what visitors can expect in the meantime: “Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is undergoing visible exterior maintenance through late 2026, which will impact views from various locations throughout the Resort hotel and, at times, require alternate paths of travel,” the site reads. “Guests may see or hear work in the area during daytime hours until the refurbishment is complete.”
Even once that exterior maintenance concludes, Yacht Club guests shouldn’t expect a completely smooth stretch afterward. A separate closure is already on the books for January 2027, when the Disney Skyliner gondola system is taken offline for its yearly maintenance window, temporarily removing that transportation option for resort guests.
The newest development, however, is happening well before either of those dates. Construction has now expanded to cover the resort’s central building, and the main lobby entrance long used by arriving guests is currently boarded up behind scaffolding and plywood. A sandwich-board sign posted directly in front of the sealed entrance carries the resort’s familiar “Pardon Our Pixie Dust” phrasing, with an arrow directing guests toward a walkway to the right of the building, according to a report from WDWNT.
That detour sends arriving guests along the side of the building, past Ale & Compass Restaurant, before reaching the lobby through a side entrance instead of the front doors most travelers are used to.
For anyone with an upcoming stay at Yacht Club, the practical takeaway is straightforward: don’t head for the main entrance out of habit. The sidewalk near Ale & Compass is now the functional front door for both arrivals and departures, and Disney has kept it clearly marked along the way. Guests who use a wheelchair or otherwise rely on ramp access should also note that the accessible ramp is located at this same side entrance rather than at the closed main doors, which is worth factoring into arrival plans.
With Yacht Club’s exterior targeted for completion by late 2026 and Beach Club’s continuing into 2027, guests booking either resort in the coming months should go in expecting scaffolding, detours, and construction noise as a regular part of the stay rather than an occasional inconvenience.
