Universal Theme Park Update: 6 New Lands Confirmed, IPs Removed

Universal’s first European theme park is taking shape in Bedford, England, and a new report says the future Universal United Kingdom Resort will be divided into six different zones designed to offer experiences for the entire family.

The six-zone detail comes from theme-park creator Digital Dan, not from Universal itself. Universal has officially confirmed only that the Bedford park will feature “several immersive lands” with innovative attractions and story-driven experiences. The company has not announced the names, franchises, rides, or exact number of themed lands planned for opening day.

Report Points to Six Zones at Universal United Kingdom Resort

Digital Dan reported on X that Universal UK will have “6 different zones across the park,” with each intended to cater to the whole family. Until Universal releases a park map or creative lineup, however, the reported number should be treated as attributed information rather than an official land announcement.

What is official is increasingly substantial. Comcast NBCUniversal announced in June that Universal United Kingdom Resort will be located in Bedford, roughly 45 minutes outside London, and will include a theme park with several immersive lands, a 500-room hotel, and a retail, dining, and entertainment complex. Bedford Borough Council says work on the site began in 2026, with opening planned for 2031.

Universal Still Hasn’t Named the Lands

For all the progress in Bedford, Universal has been unusually disciplined about what it has not revealed. No Jurassic Park or Jurassic World land has been confirmed. Neither has The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, despite the franchise’s obvious connection to the United Kingdom.

Inside the Magic previously reported on a Jurassic Park trademark development connected to theme-park services, but a trademark is not the same thing as an attraction announcement.

Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Nintendo, Universal Monsters, DreamWorks, and other major properties all exist elsewhere in Universal’s global portfolio, but none should be placed on a Bedford opening-day map until Universal does so itself. Inside the Magic has followed the project since Universal first confirmed its land purchase in England, when the destination was still in its earliest planning stages.

Could Bedford Get Experiences Orlando Doesn’t Have?

This is where the project becomes especially interesting for American Universal fans. Universal is building its first European resort years after developing modern immersive lands at Universal Beijing Resort and Universal Epic Universe, giving the company a chance to apply lessons from those projects to a new destination.

Epic Universe already demonstrates Universal’s current “worlds” approach. Its lineup includes SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic around Celestial Park. But there is no evidence that Bedford is receiving “better” versions of those lands, or that Universal intends to withhold new concepts from Orlando or Hollywood.

If the reported six-zone structure proves accurate, Universal would have considerable room to balance recognizable global brands with concepts capable of giving the UK resort its own identity.

The UK Park Is Becoming a Major Piece of Universal’s Global Strategy

Universal United Kingdom Resort is not merely a new gate added to an existing property. It will be Universal’s first branded theme park and resort destination in the UK and Europe, placing Bedford alongside a global portfolio that already includes major destinations in Orlando, Hollywood, Japan, Beijing, and Singapore.

The UK government approved planning permission for the Bedford Entertainment Resort Complex through a Special Development Order that took effect in January 2026. Government documents describe an initial construction period leading to a planned 2031 public opening, while allowing the resort to continue developing over time.

That long-term framework is important because the planning permission anticipates a destination capable of evolving after its initial opening. Orlando provides an obvious reminder of how Universal destinations evolve: Inside the Magic has reported on expansion work at Epic Universe only a little more than a year after that park opened.

Six Zones Would Make Every Franchise Reveal Matter More

The next major milestone is creative disclosure. Universal’s official UK project website currently promises several themed lands but does not identify them, meaning every supposed franchise lineup circulating online remains unconfirmed unless Universal or another authoritative record substantiates it.

If Digital Dan’s six-zone report is correct, each reveal will also answer a strategic question: does Universal use Bedford to reproduce proven worlds, reinvent familiar franchises, or introduce experiences that cannot currently be found in Florida or California?

For now, Orlando fans do not need to panic about the UK “stealing” Jurassic World, Harry Potter, or another franchise. Nothing publicly verified supports that conclusion. But Universal United Kingdom Resort gives the company a blank canvas in Europe, and six reported family-focused zones would make that canvas considerably larger than fans previously knew.

With construction underway and 2031 still several years away, the strongest clues will come from Universal’s own announcements, planning updates, and eventually the first confirmed land and attraction names. Until then, Bedford’s six-zone layout is a compelling report — not yet an official map.
