This is exactly the kind of tip that circulates through fan accounts long before anything official comes out, and it sounds like the stone had been loose for a bit before it fully broke free. Once cast members spotted it, they pulled it rather than let it sit there as a hazard in one of the single most photographed spots in the entire resort.
No word of anyone getting hurt, and nothing suggesting the bridge got shut down because of it. Still, when a piece of one of Disneyland’s most recognizable structures literally breaks off, fans notice fast.
And This Is Happening Right as a Huge Celebration Wraps Up
Talk about timing. This whole thing is going down just as Disneyland closes the book on one of its longest celebrations ever. Disneyland’s 70th anniversary officially ended just days ago after a 15 month run, and the resort wasted no time updating its own systems to reflect it. Theme Park IQ caught it fast, posting that “Disney has updated the Disneyland Digital Map to remove the final decorations for the 70th, which ended yesterday.”
That’s not a subtle wind-down, that’s an official closeout. Guests who’ve spent over a year walking past anniversary decorations are going to start noticing those touches disappear fast. One of the clearest signs it’s really over involves rope drop. Matt, same guy who broke the bridge story, also nailed this one: “Now that Disneyland’s 70th anniversary has concluded the Get Your Ears On intro has returned to rope drop for the first time since May 15th, 2025!” If you’re someone who shows up early just for that opening moment, this is the first time in over a year it’s looked normal again.
A Wave of Closures Is Right Behind It
As if the anniversary ending and a bridge falling apart wasn’t enough, Disneyland’s also sliding into its typical late summer refurbishment stretch. Six attractions are closing in August across both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure: Haunted Mansion, Main Street Cinema, Sailing Ship Columbia, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition, and Pixie Hollow. Add those to Silly Symphony Swings and Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition, which were already closed heading into the month, and that’s a serious list.
Haunted Mansion goes dark August 8 through 20 to get its holiday makeover, reopening August 21 as Haunted Mansion Holiday. Main Street Cinema closes August 10 through 27, right alongside the anniversary’s end, and MiceChat says that closure likely means the “Last Verse” video, the one about late Disney songwriter Richard Sherman writing new lyrics for It’s a Small World, is getting pulled too.
Fantasmic skips a few nights, going dark August 24 through 27 and again August 31 as its summer run wraps. The Sailing Ship Columbia and Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes are both closing at different points through early and mid August. Pixie Hollow, just off a 10 month refurbishment, is closed Tuesdays and Thursdays all month, and the Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition and Silly Symphony Swings are still down from earlier in the summer, both expected back sometime in early September.

Booking a Disneyland trip for the back half of August? Adjust your expectations now. Between the last of the anniversary changes, this stacked closure list, and a literal piece of the castle bridge needing repair, you’re going to notice something different about this trip compared to a normal visit, even if none of it’s serious enough to actually wreck your plans.
