Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash Debuts Tonight at Magic Kingdom, Replacing a Halloween Party Staple
Today is the day. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party opens tonight. After months of announcements, showtime confirmations, ticket sellouts, and the yearly argument about Halloween starting in 95-degree heat, Magic Kingdom finally flips over to the party.
Opening night has its own energy. Costumes on Main Street, U.S.A.Trick-or-treat trails are going live. The first Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade of the year. And this season, two brand new offerings are debuting, which means nobody walking in tonight knows exactly what they are getting.
One of them is in Adventureland, and Disney just dropped more details on it, with the gates about to open.
What It Is
The new Adventureland pirate offering is officially called Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash.
The premise is a recruitment mission. Disney says Captain Jack Sparrow has come to port to sign up new crew and teach them how to be pirates, calling the whole thing a “gallant quest.”
That quest comes with a salty pirate band, daring jugglers, and sailor superstitions worked into the performance.
Important distinction: this is interactive, not a stage show. Guests learn pirate customs alongside the character rather than watching from a distance. Pirate music, comedy, audience participation.
It takes place outside Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland.
About That Pirate Band
Here is the piece longtime party guests have been trying to nail down.
The Rusty Cutlass pirate band has held down Adventureland during past Halloween parties and has become a fixture there. When Disney first teased this Captain Jack offering in June, there was no name, no format, and no word on whether Rusty Cutlass would stick around or be replaced.
Disney’s new description mentions a “salty pirate band.” It does not say Rusty Cutlass.
Same performers under a different banner? Entirely new group? The wording does not say. What is certain is that there will be live pirate music in Adventureland tonight.
The Showtime Change Matters
This one affects how you plan.
When Rusty Cutlass was the Adventureland act, it had proper showtimes in the My Disney Experience app. Check a time, plan around it.
Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash has a window instead. 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.
This suggests it runs continuously through the night with short breaks rather than on a fixed schedule. So you do not need to build your evening around it. Walk through Adventureland at some point, and it should be happening.
Very different from Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, which hits at 9:05 p.m., 10:35 p.m., and midnight and genuinely requires planning.
The Other Halloween Debut Tonight
Adventureland is not the only land getting something new.
Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup opens at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland.
Also built on participation instead of watching. Stitch, Lilo, and Angel are hunting for the perfect Halloween costume and need help picking. Music, interactive games, video elements, dancing, costumes, and candy giveaways.
Both new offerings run across all 38 party dates between August 7 and October 31. Useful if you are booking weeks or months out, since there is no need to chase a specific night.
The Full Halloween Entertainment Lineup
Nothing got cut to make room. This year’s schedule:
Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks
Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet
Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash
Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup
Add trick-or-treating, rare character meets, party-exclusive food, themed merch, and shorter attraction waits, and that is the formula.
Availability
Thinking about going later this season? Move.
Eight dates are already sold out. August 7, 11, 14,18 and 21. September 4 and 8. October 9, 13, and 31.
Tonight was one of the first to hit capacity. Halloween night is gone, too, which happens every year now.
Plenty of dates are still open, but they tend to fill up as the season progresses, especially on weekends and anything close to October. Disney updates availability on the official event purchase page.
Going Tonight?
Because the Buccaneer Bash runs continuously, treat it as something you stumble into rather than an appointment. Save the strict planning for the parade, the Spelltacular, and the fireworks, which all have hard times.
And remember, everything you see tonight is being performed for the very first time. Fun thing to witness, even if new offerings usually tighten up as the season goes.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs select nights from August 7 through October 31, 2026.
