Disney has already committed to one of the most ambitious periods of theme park expansion in decades, and the company made sure investors didn’t forget it. During its latest quarterly earnings call, Disney leaders once again highlighted the growing list of attractions, lands, and experiences heading to parks around the globe.
With D23 now less than two weeks away, many fans believe those confirmed projects could soon be joined by even more announcements.
Disney’s Biggest Projects Keep Moving Forward
Although the earnings presentation focused primarily on the company’s financial performance, Disney also used the opportunity to spotlight its expanding parks portfolio.
Walt Disney World alone has several massive projects underway. Magic Kingdom is gaining both Villains Land and the Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is preparing for a Monsters, Inc. expansion, while Animal Kingdom continues transforming DinoLand U.S.A. into Tropical Americas.
Disneyland Resort isn’t slowing down either. A Coco attraction, Avatar experience, and larger Avengers Campus are all part of the resort’s future.
Around the world, Disney continues investing in new attractions for Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disney Resort, showing that the company’s expansion strategy extends well beyond Florida and California.
Parks Continue Driving Disney’s Success
The continued investment comes after another strong quarter for Disney Experiences.
Domestic attendance increased by 3%, while guest spending also rose. Walt Disney World was singled out for strong performance thanks to healthy attendance, Annual Passholder visits, promotional offers, and new guest experiences.
Those results give Disney even more reason to continue investing in attractions that encourage guests to return year after year.
D23 Is Almost Here
Now comes the part fans have been waiting for.
D23 kicks off August 14 in Anaheim, and Disney has historically used the event to unveil some of its biggest long-term plans. Previous expos have featured surprise attraction announcements, entirely new lands, cruise ship reveals, and park expansions that shaped Disney’s future for years afterward.
Disney hasn’t confirmed what this year’s Parks presentation will include, but few expect the company to arrive without at least a few major reveals.
The event offers Disney its largest stage to speak directly to its most passionate fans, making it the perfect opportunity to announce what’s next.
