If you’ve got a Disneyland trip lined up for the next few weeks, buckle up, because the closure list over there is stacking up fast. We’re talking reduced hours on classic attractions, a beloved ride shutting down for its yearly makeover, and a handful of experiences that have been dark for months with zero timeline on when they’re coming back. Some of this is completely normal seasonal stuff. Some of it isn’t. Here’s everything currently affecting Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, broken down so you know exactly what you’re walking into.
First, the Easy Stuff: Two Rides Are on Weekend Hours Only
Let’s knock out the least dramatic change first. The Sailing Ship Columbia and Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes are both running limited hours right now, which happens most years during slower stretches and isn’t cause for concern.
Sailing Ship Columbia is currently Saturday and Sunday only, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and it’s set to go back to full daily hours on August 15. Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes runs Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and returns to daily operations one day earlier, on August 14. Weather can still throw off either schedule regardless of what’s posted, so don’t treat these hours as locked in stone.
If riding the Columbia or the canoes is on your list, aim for a weekend before mid-August, or adjust your expectations if you’re stuck visiting on a weekday.
Haunted Mansion Is About to Disappear for Its Yearly Makeover
Here’s the one everyone’s actually talking about. Haunted Mansion officially closes August 8, 2026, and stays shut through August 20. Friday, August 7, is your last shot at riding the classic version before the doors close for the transformation.
The reason is a good one. Disneyland uses this window every year to install Haunted Mansion Holiday, the seasonal overlay based on The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). Once it’s done, Haunted Mansion Holiday reopens August 21, right alongside the kickoff of Disneyland Resort’s Halloween Time celebrations.
None of this is shocking since it happens annually, but it’s still worth building your trip around, especially if you’re specifically chasing the traditional ride and not the holiday version.
Frontierland’s Shooting Gallery Has Been Down for Weeks With No End in Sight
Not every closure comes with a clean answer. Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition has been closed since July 6, 2026, and Disneyland’s own status page just lists the reopening date as to be determined.
This is the classic interactive shooting gallery experience tucked into Frontierland, where guests aim at targets instead of riding through a scene, and its indefinite closure has made it one of the more talked about gaps on this list. Until Disney says otherwise, plan your trip assuming this one’s not coming back anytime soon.
Main Street Cinema Closes Right Behind Haunted Mansion
As if Haunted Mansion going dark wasn’t enough, Main Street Cinema is closing just two days later, on August 10, and staying shut through August 27. That creates a stretch in the middle of the month where both spots are closed at the exact same time.
This one’s a shorter closure compared to the rest of the list, with Main Street Cinema expected back August 28. Still, if your trip lands mid-August, you’re looking at multiple unavailable experiences during the same visit.
Disney California Adventure Has Its Own Growing List
Don’t think you’re escaping this by staying on the California Adventure side. Silly Symphony Swings has been closed since April 27, 2026, with no reopening date announced, making it one of the longest running closures across the entire resort right now.
Chiller at Paradise Gardens Park joined the list more recently, going dark July 26 with its own return date still unknown. Between the two, guests spending time at Disney California Adventure should expect at least one, possibly two, closed attractions depending on when they show up.
Avengers Campus Construction Is Rerouting Foot Traffic Too
There’s one more change worth flagging, and it’s not even a ride. The walkway linking Avengers Campus and Cars Land is currently closed thanks to ongoing construction tied to the larger Avengers Campus expansion.
Guests can still get between the two areas, just not the direct way. The Performance Corridor and other alternate routes are the workaround for now. It’s not a huge deal on paper, but if you’re used to cutting quickly between Cars Land and Avengers Campus, this reroute can slow you down more than you’d expect, especially during busy hours.
Pixie Hollow and Tinker Bell Round Out the Chaos
On top of everything else, Disneyland has made recent changes tied to Tinker Bell and Pixie Hollow. Pixie Hollow is staying open overall, but it’s now closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays through September 5, 2026. That follows a separate Tinker Bell removal announcement that hit just the week before, adding yet another item to an already stacked list of changes this summer.
Here’s the Full Picture Heading Into August
Add it all up and Disneyland Resort is walking into August with a seriously long list of closures. Pixie Hollow’s reduced schedule kicks in within days. Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition has been down since early July with no timeline. Silly Symphony Swings has been closed since late April. Chiller joined the list in late July. And now Haunted Mansion goes dark on August 8, immediately followed by Main Street Cinema on August 10, meaning both will be closed at the same time for part of the month.
If there’s one bright spot, it’s Haunted Mansion having an actual confirmed comeback date. Ride the classic version through August 7, and catch it again August 21 once it reopens as Haunted Mansion Holiday, perfectly timed with Halloween Time.
Bottom line if you’re headed to Disneyland Resort before Labor Day: pull up the official attraction status page right before your trip instead of relying on info that might already be out of date.
