Disney Removing Bar and Shop From Hotel, Confirms Final Access Date for Guests
Another Disney hotel is preparing for a major shake-up with fresh closures slated for early 2027.
Disney is in the middle of several hotel refurbishment projects across its resorts. At Walt Disney World, guest rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Jambo House are being updated through January, while rooms at the Value Resort Disney’s All-Star Movies are also receiving a refresh.
Work is also continuing at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Refurbishment across the atrium, Main Tower, and Bay Lake Tower is expected to continue in phases through late 2027.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is facing changes of its own. Construction is underway around the hotel’s front entrance roadway, while refurbishment at the Grand Ceremonial House has also affected Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace.
Further afield, one of Disney’s lowest-rated hotels is preparing to close two of its familiar guest spaces as part of a much larger overhaul.
Disney Confirms Bar and Shop Closure
Disney Sequoia Lodge at Disneyland Paris will temporarily close Redwood Bar and its Northwest Passage shop from February 19, 2027.
Guests have until that date to visit both locations before they become unavailable. Disney has also said that some other hotel services will close from February 19, although it has not confirmed exactly what those services are.

The closures are part of the ongoing refurbishment of Disney Sequoia Lodge. Character meet-and-greets at the hotel will continue as planned during the work.
Disney has confirmed that the bar and shop closures are temporary, but it has not shared a reopening date. It is also unclear whether Redwood Bar and Northwest Passage will return at the same time.
The changes come as Disney carries out a full renovation of the 1,010-room property, which first opened in 1992.
Sequoia Lodge has faced criticism for years over its dated rooms, old bathrooms, and worn interiors. The hotel currently has a 2.8-star rating on Yelp, placing it among the lowest-rated Disney hotels in the world.
It also has a lower score than some of Disneyland Paris’ cheaper hotels, including Disney Hotel Santa Fe.
However, the current refurbishment is intended to address many of those complaints while keeping the hotel’s existing wilderness theme.
Disney is giving the property brighter and more modern interiors, but it is not abandoning the wood-heavy, nature-inspired style that has long defined Sequoia Lodge.
It previously completed a major refurbishment of Disneyland Hotel that saw it adopt a Disney Princess theme – and eventually block guests without rooms or dining reservations from accessing the resort.
Disney Shares First Look at Updated Rooms
Work began in January 2026 with rooms in the hotel’s five outer buildings. The first refurbished rooms are expected to welcome guests in early 2027.
Disney confirmed this week that bookings for the updated rooms will open in September 2026.
The rooms are inspired by Disney films, including Bambi (1942), Pocahontas (1995), and Brave (2012). Early images show lighter interiors, new bathrooms, and updated furniture.

One of the biggest changes is the removal of bathtubs from the refurbished bathrooms. Bathtubs have long been common across Disneyland Paris hotel rooms, but the new Sequoia Lodge design replaces them with showers.
Fans have reacted positively to the early look at the rooms, particularly Disney’s decision to retain the hotel’s original woodland feel.
“It appears they have not ruined the nature look and feel!” one X user wrote. “Thank god! Not too much gold or bronze!”
Another said, “Finally no more old ass bath tub.”
The refurbishment will eventually move beyond the hotel’s outer buildings. Disney plans to update the remaining rooms, lobby, restaurants, recreation areas, and shops.
That wider work now includes Redwood Bar and Northwest Passage, although Disney has not yet said what either space will look like after the renovation.
Other parts of Disneyland Paris are also being updated. The Pathé Cinema in Disney Village will undergo a major transformation, including a new exterior, with work beginning this summer.
The resort is also adjusting to the recent opening of Disney Adventure World, which replaced Walt Disney Studios Park in March.
The updated park includes World of Frozen, a new attraction inspired by Tangled (2010), and several new restaurants. In the coming years, it will also add an Up (2009) ride, plus a land based on The Lion King (1994), complete with a Pride Rock water attraction.
