Disney World Shuts Down Grand Floridian Resort Area, Issues Notice to Guests
Construction barriers have gone up at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and the Victorian-style resort’s beloved breakfast spot is now officially closed for what promises to be a months-long refurbishment.
The Grand Floridian Cafe Goes Dark
Sunday, July 19, was the last day that Walt Disney World Resort guests could dine at the Grand Floridian Cafe in its current form. The Table-Service restaurant closed for refurbishment on Monday, July 20, and by Tuesday, brown-and-white construction barriers were already in place, blocking the dining location from view. WDWNT shared a photo of the walled-off restaurant alongside the official notice posted on the barriers:
“PARDON OUR PIXIE DUST
Grand Floridian Cafe and restrooms are closed for refurbishment
For brunch service, please join us at Cítricos–located upstairs on the second floor
Additional restrooms are located near the lobby or upstairs on the second floor”
The neighboring 1900 Park Fare continues to operate normally throughout the Grand Floridian Cafe closure. Guests looking for a morning meal at the resort have been redirected to Cítricos, which is temporarily expanding its hours to cover brunch service from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Walt Disney World Resort‘s official website lists the Grand Floridian Cafe’s closure through mid-October 2026, though no exact reopening date has been confirmed.
One Project Among Many at the Deluxe Disney Resort Hotel
The cafe closure is the latest addition to an increasingly active construction environment at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Crews are currently rerouting a major roadway serving the Deluxe Disney Resort and other Magic Kingdom Resort Area hotels, and ongoing exterior maintenance has already altered how guests access the pool. The resort also recently filed plans for a significant parking lot expansion that would create a continuous corridor between the Grand Floridian and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort’s Island Tower DVC building.
Late last year, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa debuted The Perch — its first-ever lobby bar, designed in the shape of the golden birdcage that has been a hallmark of the hotel’s interior since the resort opened in 1988.
