Disneyland Guests Lose Access to 2 Attractions Starting Next Month
Every Disneyland vacation requires a little planning, especially when attraction refurbishments are involved. While ride closures are a normal part of keeping the park operating year-round, they can still catch guests by surprise if they don’t check the schedule before arriving.

That’s exactly what some visitors may encounter next month.
Disneyland has confirmed two attraction closures beginning in August, with one making way for a longtime seasonal favorite and the other arriving as the resort’s 70th Anniversary celebration comes to a close.
The biggest change affects Haunted Mansion.
Starting August 8, the attraction will temporarily close as Disney begins transforming it into Haunted Mansion Holiday. Rather than a standard refurbishment, the closure allows crews to replace scenes and decorations throughout the attraction with a version inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993).

The overlay has become one of Disneyland’s signature seasonal offerings. Every year, thousands of guests visit specifically to experience Jack Skellington’s takeover of the famous mansion, making the attraction one of Halloween Time’s biggest draws.
Thankfully, the downtime will be relatively short.
Disney expects Haunted Mansion Holiday to reopen on August 21, giving guests access to the seasonal attraction for the remainder of Halloween and into the holiday season.
While Haunted Mansion receives most of the attention, another Disneyland location will also close next month.
Main Street Cinema is scheduled to close beginning August 10.
The classic theater has been featuring The Last Verse during Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary celebration. The short film honors Richard M. Sherman’s final contribution to Disney by sharing the last verse written for “it’s a small world.”
Since the anniversary celebration officially ends on August 9, the closure comes immediately afterward. Disney hasn’t announced exactly what changes are planned inside the theater, but many guests expect the attraction to return to its traditional lineup of classic animated shorts once it reopens.
Unlike Haunted Mansion, Disney has not shared a reopening timeline for Main Street Cinema.
Although neither closure represents a permanent change, they highlight how quickly Disneyland shifts from one season to the next. Summer entertainment gives way to Halloween offerings, anniversary experiences conclude, and seasonal favorites begin returning throughout the resort.

For anyone visiting in August, knowing these dates ahead of time can make planning much easier. Guests arriving before August 8 can still experience the original Haunted Mansion, while those visiting later in the month will have the opportunity to enjoy Haunted Mansion Holiday after it reopens.
Meanwhile, anyone interested in seeing The Last Verse should make time to visit Main Street Cinema before the anniversary celebration wraps up.
Disneyland is constantly evolving throughout the year, and these scheduled closures are simply the latest reminder that every visit offers something a little different depending on when you arrive.
