Disney World Hotels Quietly Phase Out Premium Perks, Leaving Guests Outraged

Staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel isn’t getting any cheaper. Between higher room rates, increased dining costs, and paid options like Lightning Lane, many families are spending more than ever to vacation on Disney property.

As those prices climb, expectations naturally grow alongside them. Guests expect more than immersive theming and comfortable rooms. They also want resort amenities that reflect the premium price they’re paying.

While Disney continues to offer some of the most recognizable hotels in the vacation industry, many fans believe the pool experience could use a few meaningful upgrades. From technology to added comforts, these are four improvements guests would love to see.

This Disney Resort Amenity Already Delivers Magic

Disney has never treated resort pools as an afterthought.

Whether guests are floating through Stormalong Bay, racing down the lava slide at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, or enjoying the oversized character designs at Disney’s Value resorts, the pools often become a major part of the vacation.

They’re also a welcome escape from Florida’s heat, making it easy to spend hours relaxing without ever leaving the resort.

Even so, some guests feel the experience hasn’t evolved as much as the rest of Disney World. A handful of additions could make those pool days even better.

Dining Needs a Modern Upgrade

One of Disney’s biggest successes has been mobile ordering.

Guests use it throughout the parks and many resort restaurants to avoid long waits and pick up meals when it’s convenient. The system saves time and helps keep vacations moving.

That convenience disappears once guests head to the pool.

Although a few Deluxe resorts provide limited poolside service, it isn’t common across Walt Disney World, and guests can’t simply place an order through the My Disney Experience app while relaxing in their lounge chair.

As Disney continues expanding digital services throughout the resort, poolside mobile ordering feels like a logical feature that could make afternoons by the water even more enjoyable.

Value Resort Guests Miss Out

Disney’s Value resorts continue to impress families with colorful themes and affordable pricing.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and Disney’s All-Star Resorts all offer unique environments that appeal to guests of every age.

What they don’t offer is a hot tub.

After a full day walking through Magic Kingdom, soaking in warm water sounds like the perfect way to end the evening. While hot tubs may see less demand during the hottest summer afternoons, they become much more inviting during cooler weather and after sunset.

At the moment, that amenity is reserved for Disney’s Moderate and Deluxe resorts.

Adding just one hot tub to each Value resort could give guests another reason to stay onsite while making those hotels feel like an even stronger value.

An Obvious Addition Disney Refuses to Add

Disney’s resorts focus on creating immersive environments, which makes one missing feature stand out.

There are no swim-up bars or cafés anywhere on Walt Disney World property.

Guests aren’t asking for an all-inclusive experience. They simply want the convenience of grabbing a drink or snack without leaving the water, drying off, and waiting in line.

Many tropical resorts have embraced swim-up bars for years, making Disney’s absence feel surprising.

It would fit especially well at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where the tropical atmosphere already encourages guests to slow down and unwind beside the pool.

Premium Purchases Should Offer Even More

Private cabanas already provide a more comfortable way to spend the day at select Disney resorts.

They include amenities like seating, shade, televisions, fans, and complimentary beverages or snacks at some locations.

Still, one luxury feature remains absent.

Cooling misters have become common at many upscale resorts, helping guests stay comfortable during hot afternoons.

With Central Florida’s intense summer heat, adding built-in misting systems to Disney’s cabanas would make those premium rentals feel even more worthwhile.

Disney Still Offers Plenty of Benefits

Despite these missing features, Disney continues to offer several pool perks that guests appreciate.

Complimentary life jackets are available to families with younger swimmers, while recreation Cast Members host games, trivia, and activities throughout the day.

Disney also heats its resort pools year-round, allowing guests to enjoy the water well beyond the summer season.

Those offerings continue adding value to a stay, even if fans believe there’s room for more.

Small Upgrades Could Make a Big Difference

Disney has earned its reputation by paying attention to detail, and that’s exactly why guests continue to ask for more from the resort experience.

Poolside mobile ordering, hot tubs at Value resorts, swim-up bars, and upgraded cabanas wouldn’t completely change a Disney vacation. They would, however, make resort stays feel more modern while adding comfort that matches today’s higher prices.

For many guests, those kinds of improvements would help make staying at a Disney Resort hotel feel every bit as special as the costs would suggest.
