85-Day Coaster Hiatus Gets Major Update From Disney Parks

Disney just dropped another major look at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and honestly, this thing looks way more chaotic than people expected in the best possible way.

Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, crews are getting ready for the official May 26 debut of the reimagined coaster, and Disney Parks has suddenly gone into full hype mode online. New photos, merchandise previews, ride details, celebrity cameos, themed snacks, and even soundtrack reveals are all starting to hit social media at once.

Translation? Disney clearly wants fans paying attention before opening day arrives.

And after seeing the newest previews, it is not hard to understand why.

The Muppets Have Completely Taken Over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Disney Parks first announced the opening date on X, posting: “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens May 26 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios 🎢”

Then came the real teaser.

“Final tune-up before the big show for The Muppets 🎤 An updated look at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets 🎸”

That post included fresh photos showing off the attraction’s revamped exterior, and yes, the iconic guitar marquee now looks like The Electric Mayhem crashed into it with a bucket of psychedelic paint.

The classic red guitar design has officially been Muppet-ified with colorful swirls, bold patterns, and references to Dr. Teeth and the band layered throughout the courtyard.

It is loud. It is weird. It honestly looks exactly like something Animal would approve immediately.

The Story Sounds Completely Unhinged in the Most Disney Way Possible

Disney also shared new details about the actual ride story, and this may be where the attraction really starts leaning into full Muppet energy.

According to Disney, guests enter G-Force Records, where The Electric Mayhem is preparing for what Disney calls “the most buzzworthy concert Hollywood has ever seen.”

There is just one problem.

The band has vanished.

So naturally, guests are launched through Los Angeles in a super-stretch limo trying to make it to the concert before showtime.

That means Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd, Janice, Zoot, Lips, and Scooter are now officially at the center of one of Walt Disney World’s fastest attractions.

Disney also confirmed that Scooter is receiving the first-ever Audio-Animatronics figure for the attraction, created using motion-capture technology to replicate the Muppet’s movements and facial expressions.

Yes, Disney really motion-captured Scooter.

Honestly, that level of commitment is kind of incredible.

Disney Photo Pass shared the new on-ride photos on Instagram stating, “We’re days away from the opening of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets! 🎸 After rockin’ out with The Electric Mayhem, you’ll receive three concert-inspired versions of your attraction photo from #DisneyPhotoPass 📸”

Disney Packed the Ride With Celebrity Cameos

One of the bigger surprises from Disney’s latest reveal is just how many celebrity appearances are hidden throughout the attraction experience.

Guests will reportedly spot cameos from Awkwafina, Danny Trejo, Darren Criss, John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, Wayne Brady, and Weird Al Yankovic throughout the queue and surrounding experience.

Disney says fans should pay attention from the moment they enter the attraction all the way through the gift shop because references and hidden details are apparently scattered everywhere.

That fits perfectly with classic Muppets humor, which has always thrived on random celebrity appearances and blink-and-you-miss-it jokes.

The Soundtrack Might End Up Carrying the Entire Experience

Let’s be honest. Music matters a lot on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

Disney clearly knows that because the company also revealed an entirely new rotating soundtrack lineup tied to The Electric Mayhem.

Songs confirmed for the attraction include:

“Song 2”

“Born To Be Wild”

“Love Rollercoaster”

“Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)”

“Walking on Sunshine”

Several tracks also feature collaborations with names like Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Questlove, and Def Leppard.

That setup could seriously boost repeat rides because guests may want to experience multiple song versions instead of getting the same soundtrack every time.

And considering this coaster launches from zero to highway speeds almost instantly, the music is going to define the energy of the ride more than almost anything else.

Disney Is Also Turning the Food and Merch Into Part of the Experience

Because this is Disney in 2026, the attraction itself is only part of the rollout.

Disney also previewed a full merchandise collection inspired by Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, including apparel, accessories, and themed souvenirs available at Rock Around the Shop.

Meanwhile, nearby dining location FØØD by Swedish Chef is getting refreshed with updated theming and brand-new snacks.

Disney has already teased menu items including the Electric Slushy and Churro Drum Stick, both of which feel aggressively designed for Instagram photos and TikTok videos.

And honestly? That strategy usually works.

For guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort this summer, the entire area around the coaster is about to feel very different.

This Could Become One of Disney World’s Biggest Summer Draws

Anytime Disney opens a major attraction update, crowds follow.

But this particular retheme feels like it could pull in multiple audiences at once. You have longtime Muppets fans, thrill ride fans, Disney collectors chasing opening merchandise, and younger guests discovering The Electric Mayhem for the first time through social media clips.

That combination could make Hollywood Studios even busier this summer than many guests are expecting.

Lightning Lane demand will almost certainly spike after opening day. Merchandise lines could get long during the first few weeks. Even nearby food locations may see heavier crowds because of the themed snacks Disney keeps teasing online.

So yes, this absolutely could impact Disney World vacation planning if Hollywood Studios is already part of your trip.

And based on Disney’s social media push lately, the company clearly believes this coaster is about to become one of the most talked-about things at Walt Disney World.

Honestly, it might be right.

Because if there is one thing Disney fans consistently show up for, it is pure chaos mixed with nostalgia. And right now, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets looks like it is delivering both at full volume.
