Disney World Limits Access to Magic Kingdom as Entrance Changes

The Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC) at Walt Disney World Resort has been under construction for the better part of nine months. This week, the final phase of that project just kicked off.

Eight Months of Phased Work

Construction walls first appeared around portions of the TTC in August 2025, with crews tackling the ticket booth areas in sections — typically closing off three booths at a time to keep ticket purchasing and transportation access available throughout.

When the initial barriers came down, they revealed a visible transformation: quarter-century-old railings had been removed, and the formerly red pavement had been replaced with neutral gray ground covering. Portable stanchions have replaced fixed railings, allowing Disney cast members to reconfigure queue areas as needed based on crowd flow.

This week, construction walls went up around the last remaining ticket booths at the TTC: the center section. BlogMickey confirmed the update, sharing this photo of the plywood barriers in place:

Guests can still access ticket booths and board Monorail or watercraft transportation to Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort, but will need to route around the barriers via the right or left side of the plaza.

Walt Disney World Resort has not acknowledged the project publicly or provided an estimated completion date. Once this final phase wraps up, the full TTC refurbishment should be complete.

Walt Disney World Resort recently confirmed that a fourth ferry boat, the Meg Gilbert Crofton, will be added to the TTC-to-Magic Kingdom route in 2027. The expanded fleet is intended to increase capacity and keep transportation flowing as Magic Kingdom Park undergoes its most significant expansion in the resort’s history, bringing the Cars (2006)-inspired Piston Peak National Park to Frontierland and a Disney Villains land to the area “beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.”
