Disneyland Finally Shares a Look at the Mysterious Project Underway in Fantasyland
Nearly a month of construction walls in Fantasyland and zero communication from Disneyland Resort has finally given way to something visible.
How We Got Here
The area around the Fantasyland Quick-Service kiosk has been a construction zone for most of 2026. This is the third project on or near Edelweiss Snacks in under a year: fabric scrim and scaffolding briefly appeared around the building in summer 2025, then a confirmed closure for refurbishment ran through early February before the kiosk reopened on March 5 with virtually no visible changes. By March 31, new construction walls had returned. This time, they’ve been expanding.
On April 6, the barriers extended to block Fantasia Gardens, a seating area near the kiosk that had occupied the former Motor Boat Cruise dock in Fantasyland since the original attraction closed in 1993. The loss of that seating space has created congestion on nearby walkways and left Disney Park guests with fewer places to rest throughout the area. Throughout it all, Edelweiss Snacks has stayed open and continued serving its usual menu of Turkey Legs, Cheesy Garlic Pretzel Bread, and more.
The First Glimpse Behind the Walls
On April 28, WDWNT shared a photo revealing what’s actually being built. A wooden structure is rising behind the construction barriers, featuring dark wood, curved archways, and steep rooflines that slot neatly into the visual language of Fantasyland at Disneyland Park. The building appears to be open-air.
Disneyland Resort has still not confirmed what it’s constructing, but the design and placement strongly point to a new covered seating area — a replacement for the Fantasia Gardens space that was closed three weeks ago. No completion timeline has been announced.
