‘Harry Potter’ Offerings Will Now Close Two Hours Earlier Than Scheduled

Wizarding World fans with a London trip on the calendar this week have a narrower window to visit the most magical address in King’s Cross Station. The Harry Potter Shop King’s Cross has posted early closure notices for April 21 and April 23.

The Harry Potter Shop at King’s Cross Station posted a notice to its official Instagram account on Tuesday informing visitors of adjusted hours on two specific days. The full statement reads:

“Harry Potter Shop King’s Cross will be closing at 8pm on Tuesday 21st April and Thursday 23rd April.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

On a typical Tuesday or Thursday, the flagship London shop stays open until 10:00 p.m. The early close shaves two hours off both evenings, without any explanation. Operations on Wednesday, April 22, and from Friday, April 24, onward appear unaffected.

The Harry Potter Shop King’s Cross is also home to the original Platform 9¾ photo experience: a first-come, first-served opportunity where fans can pose with a trolley mid-disappearance through a brick wall. Since the photo op runs on the shop’s operating hours, it will almost certainly follow the same early close on both affected days. However, the Instagram story didn’t address the experience directly.

The closure notice applies only to the London flagship, which opened its doors in 2012. The Harry Potter Shop has since expanded to the United States — with locations in Chicago and New York — and Japan, with shops in Harajuku and Akasaka in Tokyo. All four of those locations are operating normally.

Each shop carries merchandise similar to what’s available at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Japan, and Universal Studios Beijing, along with items exclusive to each individual location.
