Disney World’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is once again making headlines after a challenging stretch of operations, with a new development now impacting guest access. Following a winter and early spring marked by inconsistent openings, the water park has now confirmed an indefinite closure.

After returning to service this year during the seasonal downtime of Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach has struggled to maintain steady operations. Guests planning visits over the past several months have encountered repeated interruptions, from extended shutdowns caused by unusually cold temperatures to unexpected closures during the busy Spring Break period. The unpredictable schedule has made it difficult for visitors to reliably experience the park.
Now, attention has shifted to one of Blizzard Beach’s headline attractions. The Slush Gusher waterslide has been listed as unavailable on the official Walt Disney World Resort website. Although operating hours for the park are still posted for the week, a message on the attraction’s page states, “Although Slush Gusher is temporarily unavailable, you can enjoy other attractions at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park.”
At this time, Disney has not provided details regarding the reason behind the attraction’s closure or when it may reopen. Despite the setback, guests can still enjoy several popular offerings throughout the park. Younger visitors can explore Tike’s Peak, while thrill-seekers can take on Toboggan Racers or the well-known Summit Plummet, described by Disney as “one of the tallest, fastest free-fall body slides in the world.”

Looking ahead, guests will soon have more options when it comes to water park experiences. Beginning in May, Walt Disney World is expected to return to its six-park summer lineup. For the second consecutive year, both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are scheduled to operate simultaneously through September.
This marks a continued shift from the post-pandemic approach, where only one water park operated at a time. That policy changed last year when Disney opted to reopen all of its parks just ahead of Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe debut.
