Disneyland California Will Turn Away Families Due To Operational Update in August 2026

Disneyland Resort will reject guests arriving at normal opening time on Sunday, August 2, 2026, as both California theme parks delay admission by 30 minutes for the annual CHOC Walk in the Park fundraiser. Families expecting the typical 8:00 a.m. summer opening will encounter closed gates until 8:30 a.m. while the charity event occupies both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park for a three-mile walk before public admission.

Fundraiser at the Disney Parks

Rady Children’s Health Orange County announced the date of the annual fundraising event this month:

Entry Requirements

Participants ages three and older pay a $10 registration fee and must raise at least $125. Children two and under can join for free with older participants. Those who raise over $400 receive a free Park Hopper ticket valid for August 2 after the walk concludes.

Proceeds support Rady Children’s Health Orange County, “a nonprofit healthcare system dedicated to providing pioneering, compassionate, and customized care for infants, children, adolescents, teens, and young adults.”

Disneyland Resort has hosted the CHOC Walk in the Park since 1990, honoring Walt Disney’s role on the founding board of what was originally the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Walt also helped secure funding for the institution.

Lost Park Time for Some Guests

Disneyland Resort hasn’t published the August 2026 operational calendar, but CHOC Walk historically forces later openings at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Families should expect the Southern California Disney parks to open at 8:30 a.m., not 8:00 a.m.
