Disney Cast Members Who’ve Been There Since Day One
Three women—Evelyn, Alicia, and Melissa—are celebrating 30 years with the resort. They helped welcome the very first guests in 1996.
Evelyn (Housekeeping Manager) says the difference is immediate when guests arrive: “When they come through the gate and we say, ‘Welcome home,’ they actually feel like they’re at home and not on vacation.”
Alicia (Rooms Coordinator) was born and raised on nearby St. Helena Island: “It’s literally my home away from home. These cast members are like my family. Even some of the guests that come year after year, they’re family too.”
Melissa (Housekeeping Coordinator) moved to the island from Connecticut: “We’re laid back. We are where people vacation to truly relax and get rest.”
Guests are often surprised by the Southern hospitality from cast members, Alicia notes. Evelyn believes positivity spreads from cast member to cast member, then rolls out to guests.
Over three decades, relationships have grown into lifelong traditions. Melissa recently reconnected with a returning guest family she’s known since 1998, watching the children grow up and their parents become grandparents. “It’s like we’re neighbors or best friends,” she said.
Nature and Conservation
The resort’s naturalist helps immerse guests in the local environment through programs about ecosystems, beach renourishment, and wildlife spotting.
Dolphin cruises, kayak tours, and hands-on educational experiences allow guests to explore and appreciate the Lowcountry while feeling more connected to nature.
