Time To Say Goodbye: Soarin’ Around the World Gets Official Final Date at Disney World

Will the Ride Be Returning Anytime Soon? (Here’s When)

Few experiences inside EPCOT capture the feeling of flight quite like Soarin’ Around the World. Suspended high above the ground inside The Land Pavilion, guests glide over breathtaking landscapes while wind rushes past and familiar scents fill the air.

For many visitors, it’s a must-do attraction—a moment of calm wonder amid the fast-paced energy of Walt Disney World Resort.

But recently, longtime Disney Parks fans noticed whispers of something different coming to this beloved ride. Subtle hints began appearing in Disney announcements, suggesting the attraction’s experience might soon shift—at least temporarily.

The news immediately sparked curiosity across the Disney fandom. What exactly was changing at one of EPCOT’s most iconic attractions?

Disney Has Been Teasing a Patriotic Celebration Across the Parks

Over the past year, The Walt Disney Company has been preparing for a wave of celebrations tied to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States.

Theme park experiences, limited-time entertainment offerings, and special seasonal events have all been hinted at as part of the milestone.

At Walt Disney World, summer programming is also expanding. Disney recently announced “Cool Kids’ Summer,” a seasonal initiative designed to bring new energy to the parks during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.

That announcement alone had fans speculating about new entertainment and attraction overlays.

But no one expected one of EPCOT’s most recognizable experiences to play a role in the celebration.

The Original Version of This Ride Still Holds a Special Place in Disney History

Before the current global journey existed, Soarin’ originally debuted with a distinctly American focus.

The attraction first opened in Disney California Adventure Park as Soarin’ Over California, taking guests across famous landscapes such as Yosemite National Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Pacific coastline.

When the ride later expanded to EPCOT, it eventually transitioned into Soarin’ Around the World, sending riders soaring over landmarks like the Great Wall of China, the Eiffel Tower, and the African savanna.

Still, nostalgia for the original American-focused flight never faded. Many longtime Disney Parks fans often ask when the classic experience might return—even if only for a limited run.

Now, it appears that moment is finally arriving.

Disney Confirms the Official Opening Date for Soarin’ Across America

After months of anticipation, Disney has officially confirmed the opening date for Soarin’ Across America at EPCOT.

The limited-time attraction overlay will debut Tuesday, May 26, just after Memorial Day weekend.

Originally, Disney had only stated the experience would open around the holiday weekend. However, the company clarified the exact launch date as part of the start of Cool Kids’ Summer at Walt Disney World Resort.

The new version of the attraction celebrates 250 years of the United States, taking guests on a soaring journey “from sea to shining sea.” Walt Disney Imagineering filmed more than a dozen locations across the country for the updated experience, showcasing natural landscapes and iconic city skylines.

Like other versions of the ride, Soarin’ Across America will feature a sweeping musical score and immersive scents timed to the scenes on screen—signature elements that have defined the attraction for decades.

Disney confirmed the overlay will run for a limited time, though an end date has not yet been announced.

The experience isn’t exclusive to Florida either. Over at Disney California Adventure Park, the attraction will also debut beginning July 2.

Fans Are Already Reacting Online as Disney Prepares for Summer Crowds

The announcement immediately sparked discussion across social media platforms like X and Reddit.

Some fans expressed excitement about seeing an American-focused version of the ride again, especially in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Others were intrigued by the idea of newly filmed locations appearing in the experience.

“Honestly this sounds incredible,” one Disney fan wrote online. “Soarin’ is already one of EPCOT’s best rides—seeing more of America could make it even better.”

Still, some guests are wondering how long the overlay will last and whether Soarin’ Around the World will eventually return after the celebration ends.

That uncertainty is part of what keeps the conversation going—and what keeps Disney Parks fans watching closely for future announcements.

What This Could Mean for Future EPCOT Visitors

For travelers planning a trip to Walt Disney World this summer, the timing could add something special to their visit.

Seasonal overlays and limited-time experiences often draw extra attention to attractions that longtime visitors already love.

And with Cool Kids’ Summer launching across the resort at the same time, Disney appears to be positioning the experience as part of a broader seasonal celebration.

Still, the biggest question remains how long Soarin’ Across America will stay in rotation.

For now, Disney fans can mark their calendars for May 26—the day a classic style of flight returns to EPCOT.

But what do you think? Would you prefer to experience Soarin’ Across America, or would you rather keep the current Soarin’ Around the World permanently in the park?
