Disney World Replaces ‘Toy Story’ Attraction Theme With Generic Outer Space
Buzz Lightyear’s name isn’t on his own sign yet, as crews continue putting the finishing touches on the overhaul of Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom Park.
A Unified Look in Tomorrowland

Walt Disney World Resort installed a new attraction sign in front of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin earlier this month, and it looks almost identical to the marquee outside Space Mountain. The design features the same white spire silhouette inspired by the iconic roller coaster building, paired with an outer-space-themed background and digital wait time displays. WDWMAGIC documented the new addition on March 10:
The new marquee is now installed at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. It features a Space Mountain-style white spire with digital wait time clocks beneath. Just the attraction name text still needs to be added. Full details in the comments.
That last detail is hard to miss. At the moment, “Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin” hasn’t been painted onto the sign, meaning the Toy Story (1995) character the attraction is built around has no visible presence at his own entrance. The logo is presumably on its way before the April 8 reopening.
Refurbishment of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been closed since early August 2025, sitting offline for nearly eight months while Walt Disney World Resort overhauled the 27-year-old interactive attraction. The upgrades are substantive: new ride vehicles, more interactive targets, improved blasters, updated props, and a new audio-animatronic character named Buddy, who guides guests through the mechanics of their astro blasters before the mission begins. The reimagined attraction also references the upcoming Pixar film Toy Story 5 (2026).
Walt Disney World Resort confirmed on March 12 that the revamped Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin opens at Magic Kingdom Park on April 8, 2026.
