Disney Confirms Closure of Pixar Area at Disney California Adventure Park

Nine days after it was supposed to reopen, an Inside Out (2015) ride on Pixar Pier is still sitting idle, and Disneyland Resort isn’t offering any real answers.

Two Closures, One Lingering Problem

Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind has now been through two separate refurbishment windows in just a few months. The first, running January 5 through January 23, 2026, was unremarkable — routine maintenance that barely drew a second glance from Disneyland Resort regulars.

The second closure is a different story. The Disney California Adventure Park attraction went offline again on February 27, with a two-day turnaround on the books and a March 1 return date posted on the Disneyland Resort website. That date passed without incident. So did every day that followed.

As of Tuesday, March 10, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind remains closed. The official website for the Southern California Disney park now shows a reopening on Wednesday, March 11. However, the same page also includes language that undermines confidence in that date, noting that the attraction “is currently closed for refurbishment” and telling guests to “please check back here for updates.” Disneyland Resort typically reserves that disclaimer for situations where an exact reopening timeline isn’t known.

MickeyVisit flagged a telling pattern: the refurbishment calendar has been updated every day since March 1, rolling the projected reopening forward by exactly one day each time. The cycle repeated every single day from March 1 through March 9. There’s little reason to assume March 11 breaks the streak.

Still No Word on What’s Wrong

Disneyland Resort has not issued any public statement on the extended closure or what’s behind it. A technical issue, newly discovered damage, and unrelated maintenance work remain possibilities, but nothing is confirmed. Guests heading to Pixar Pier should verify the attraction’s status in the Disneyland Resort app before visiting and plan accordingly.

Disney Dining will continue to follow this story as updates emerge.
