Okay Potter fans, it is time. Butterbeer Season has officially returned to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and we are not okay about it in the best possible way.
Every spring, Universal does this thing where they take the already-iconic Butterbeer experience and somehow make it even better with a fresh lineup of limited-time treats and exclusive merchandise, and every single year we fall for it completely. This year though? This year is different. This year we have a brand new signature item, three Wizarding World locations in Orlando running the event simultaneously, and a 25th anniversary backdrop that is making everything feel a little more emotional than usual.

When and Where Is Butterbeer Season 2025?
Let’s get the logistics out of the way first because these dates matter:
- Universal Orlando Resort: March 1 – May 31
- Universal Studios Hollywood: March 1 – May 31
- Universal Beijing Resort: March 1 – May 31
- Universal Studios Japan: April 1 – May 17 (their first ever Butterbeer Season, by the way!!)
If you are anywhere near any of these parks between now and the end of May, you have zero excuses.
The New Butterbeer Waffle Is the Main Character This Season
Every year Butterbeer Season has a signature item, and for 2025 it is the Butterbeer Waffle. Available at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade and the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando, this is the thing that is going to be all over your social media feeds within approximately 48 hours of March 1. We are already mentally planning a visit around it.
But the waffle is just the beginning. Universal Orlando is also bringing out a Butterbeer Cupcake, a Butterbeer Cookie Sandwich, a Butterbeer Candy Apple, and a Butterbeer Shortbread Bar — all available at Honeydukes in Hogsmeade and Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley. And then there is the Biéraubeurre Crème Brûlée over at Café L’air de la Siréne in the Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe. A French-inspired Butterbeer crème brûlée set inside a Parisian wizarding café. We are talking about this item for the rest of the year.
Over at Universal Studios Hollywood, the beloved Butterbeer Cream Puff is making its seasonal comeback, and fans of that one know what they are doing the moment the gates open.
This Is the First Butterbeer Season at Epic Universe and That Is a Big Deal
We cannot stress this enough: this is the first Butterbeer Season that includes The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic at Universal Epic Universe. That means Orlando visitors this spring have three fully operational Wizarding World areas all celebrating the season at the same time. Diagon Alley. Hogsmeade. Ministry of Magic. All at once.
The other Epic Universe-specific news is that Butterbeer truffles and macarons are debuting at K. Rammelle in the Ministry of Magic this season AND they are staying on the menu permanently after Butterbeer Season ends. Year-round Butterbeer macarons at Epic Universe. This is not a drill.
The Merch Is Really Good This Year
A new Butterbeer Season merchandise collection is available at Wizarding World retail locations across Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood, and online at shopuniversal.com. The 2025 lineup includes a Spirit Jersey, t-shirt, and bucket hat, all Butterbeer-themed and all extremely dangerous to your wallet.
Universal Beijing Resort is getting something extra special: a limited-edition collectible Harry Potter 25 Years of Magic Butterbeer Stein. The 25th anniversary angle is going to make this one a collector’s item, and if that is your thing, do not wait on it.
Why the 25th Anniversary Makes This Butterbeer Season Hit Different
The first Harry Potter film came out in November 2001. We have collectively been fans of this franchise for 25 years. The books, the movies, the parks, the merchandise — it has been a genuine cultural institution for a quarter of a century and Butterbeer Season landing in the middle of that milestone feels intentional and honestly kind of emotional if you grew up with these stories.
Going to The Wizarding World during the 25th anniversary year, in the spring, during Butterbeer Season, with Epic Universe’s Ministry of Magic now open? That is a very specific combination of things that will not come around again. Just saying.
