Disney Store Dealing With Construction During Busy Season

If you’ve walked through the Town Center section of Disney Springs recently, you might have noticed something different at Fit2Run. The specialty running store is currently operating with only half of its retail space available while the other half undergoes some kind of refurbishment.

What’s Going On

The larger portion of Fit2Run has been walled off for construction or renovation work. The company hasn’t officially announced what they’re doing or how long it will take, but a smaller section of the store remains open for business while the work continues.

For shoppers expecting the full Fit2Run experience, this creates a less than ideal situation. The store is known for carrying a wide selection of running shoes, performance apparel, and athletic accessories from brands like Brooks, ASICS, HOKA, Nike, and On. With half the space unavailable, the inventory and services are obviously more limited.

Fit2Run is located in the enclosed walkway area between Planet Hollywood and the Disney Springs Welcome Center. It’s a decent location for foot traffic, though it’s not as heavily visited as some of the bigger stores in the shopping district.

The RunDisney Problem

Here’s where the timing gets tricky. Right now is runDisney season at Walt Disney World. These are the weeks when the resort hosts multiple marathons and race events, bringing thousands of runners to Central Florida.

Fit2Run calls itself “The Runner’s Superstore,” which means its core customer base is exactly the people flooding into Disney Springs during these race weekends. Runners often need to pick up last-minute gear, replace worn-out shoes, or grab accessories they forgot to pack. Fit2Run is one of the few stores in the area that specializes in serious running equipment.

Having only half the store operational during what should be peak season isn’t great for business or for customers who came specifically looking for running gear. The reduced floor space means less inventory on display and potentially longer wait times for fitting services.

How It Affects Disney Springs

Beyond just impacting Fit2Run’s sales, the partial closure is changing how people move through that section of Disney Springs. The enclosed walkway where the store sits serves as a connector between different areas of the shopping district.

Construction walls and barriers make the space feel more cramped. Some guests probably walk past assuming the whole store is closed. Others might go in, realize the selection is limited, and leave disappointed. Either way, it’s affecting the flow of foot traffic through that corridor.

The Store’s Disney Background

Fit2Run is a Florida-based chain that started in 2006. The company operates dozens of locations primarily across Florida, with some stores in other Southeastern states and Puerto Rico. They focus specifically on runners, walkers, and fitness-focused customers.

This particular location at Disney Springs opened in late 2020. Before that, Fit2Run had a different spot at Disney Springs closer to where the NBA Experience building used to be. The current Town Center location gave them better visibility and access to foot traffic from multiple directions.

What Disney Shoppers Should Know

If you’re planning to visit Fit2Run at Disney Springs anytime soon, just be aware that you’re working with limited space and selection. The store is open, but it’s not the full experience you’d normally get.

For runners who need specific brands or shoe models, it might be worth calling ahead to make sure what you want is actually available in the operational section. The staff is probably doing their best to make it work, but there’s only so much they can do with half the store closed off.

If you’re just casually browsing or don’t need anything urgently, you might want to wait until the refurbishment is done and the store is back to normal operation.

No Timeline Yet

Unfortunately, there’s no official word on when the work will be finished. Fit2Run hasn’t announced what they’re doing or how long it will take. Depending on the scope of the project, it could take a few weeks or stretch into months.

For now, Disney Springs guests will just have to deal with the partial closure and hope whatever changes are being made will improve the store once everything’s complete.
