Swiftquake at Disney: Park Takeover Forces Sudden Replacement
If you were planning a Disney trip specifically to see Taylor Swift’s iconic Eras Tour costumes at Hollywood Studios, we have some devastating news. Those gorgeous outfits that were literally popular enough to get Early Entry access at the park? GONE. Completely removed. Vanished. And what replaced them? Percy Jackson Season 2 costumes and props.

Now look, we’re not saying Percy Jackson doesn’t deserve display space. The Disney+ show is great, the books are beloved, and the costumes are legitimately cool. BUT the way Disney just casually yeeted Taylor Swift’s entire exhibit to make room for it has Swifties REELING. And honestly? We get it.
Let’s break down exactly what happened here because the timeline is WILD.
The Rise and Fall of the Taylor Swift Exhibit

The Taylor Swift Eras Tour costume display arrived at Walt Disney Presents when Disney+ released her concert film and the behind-the-scenes docuseries. These weren’t replicas or cheap knockoffs. These were ACTUAL COSTUMES from the record-breaking tour that basically dominated 2023 and 2024. Real sparkly bodysuits. Real boots. Real pieces of pop culture history.
And people LOVED it. Like, loved it so much that Disney made a decision they almost NEVER make: they added Walt Disney Presents to the Early Entry lineup for resort hotel guests.
Let that sink in for a second. Early Entry is usually reserved for the BIG attractions. Slinky Dog Dash. Tower of Terror. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. These are RIDES. Major attractions that people rope-drop and plan their entire days around.
But the Taylor Swift exhibit was drawing SO MANY people that Disney said “you know what, let’s open this walk-through gallery 30 minutes early so resort guests can see these costumes before the general public arrives.” That is HUGE. That almost never happens for a gallery space.
During the holidays, the crowds at Walt Disney Presents were intense enough that Disney needed that Early Entry window just to manage the flow of people who wanted to see Taylor’s costumes. Swifties were making pilgrimages to Hollywood Studios specifically for this exhibit. Some people were planning entire Disney vacations around it.
Then on January 5th, Disney quietly removed Walt Disney Presents from the Early Entry rotation. The venue went back to opening at 9 AM with the rest of the park. At the time, Disney said it was because holiday crowds had died down and they didn’t need the early access anymore.
But now we know the REAL reason. They were preparing to completely remove the Taylor Swift exhibit to make room for Percy Jackson.
What Percy Jackson Got

The new Percy Jackson and the Olympians display is actually pretty impressive, we’ll give it that. It takes up FOUR display cases at the end of Walt Disney Presents, which is basically all the available space in that section of the gallery.
The exhibit features costumes and props from Season 2 of the Disney+ series. You’ve got outfits worn by the main cast, props used during filming, and all the production design elements that bring Rick Riordan’s world to life. There’s also a 10-minute video with behind-the-scenes footage and narration from the show’s actors talking about their experiences.
It’s a solid exhibit. It’s well done. Percy Jackson fans are probably thrilled.
But here’s the thing: Disney didn’t ADD this display. They REPLACED the Taylor Swift exhibit to create space for it. And they did it with basically zero warning to the public.
Why This Feels So Harsh
Walt Disney Presents functions as Disney’s promotional showroom inside Hollywood Studios. It’s where they put costumes, props, and materials from whatever Disney+ shows, movies, or projects they’re currently trying to market. The exhibits rotate regularly based on what Disney wants to promote at any given time.
From a business perspective, this makes total sense. Taylor Swift’s concert film and docuseries have been on Disney+ for months now. The initial promotional push is over. The content is established. Disney doesn’t need to keep promoting it as heavily because people who were going to watch it have probably already watched it.
Percy Jackson Season 2, on the other hand, is NEW. It’s currently airing. Disney wants people to know about it, talk about it, and subscribe to Disney+ to watch it. So yeah, from a marketing standpoint, swapping out old promotional materials for new promotional materials is just standard business practice.
BUT from a guest experience perspective, this is rough. Really rough.
And the speed of it is what stings. The exhibit was popular enough to warrant Early Entry access just weeks ago. It was drawing massive crowds through the entire holiday season. Then suddenly it’s gone?
What Disney Could Have Done Better
Here’s where we get a little critical of Disney’s handling of this whole situation.
When you create an exhibit that becomes as popular as the Taylor Swift costumes were, you create expectations. People plan trips around seeing specific things. They book flights, reserve hotels, buy park tickets, all with the assumption that the thing they want to see will still be there when they arrive.
Disney KNEW this exhibit was a massive draw. The Early Entry addition proved they knew it. So when they decided to remove it, giving guests some advance warning would have been the decent thing to do.
A simple “The Taylor Swift Eras Tour costume exhibit will be on display through January 10th” announcement would have allowed people to plan accordingly. Swifties could have adjusted their trip dates or at least known not to get their hopes up if they were visiting after that date.
Instead, Disney just quietly swapped the exhibits with no public notification. Guests are finding out the costumes are gone by physically showing up at the park and discovering empty display cases where Taylor’s sparkly bodysuits used to be.
That’s not great guest experience. That’s not the Disney service standard we’re used to seeing.
The Christmas Decorations Are STILL Up Though
Want to know something funny? While Disney moved quickly to remove the Taylor Swift exhibit, the CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS are still up at Walt Disney Presents.
Santa Claus stopped doing meet-and-greets weeks ago. The holiday season is over. We’re halfway through January. But the festive decor is still hanging around the gallery like nobody told it the party ended.
This isn’t unusual for Disney. Holiday decorations tend to linger into early January while crews systematically remove them across the entire resort. They’ll probably disappear in the next week or two.
But the optics of it are kind of hilarious. Taylor Swift’s costumes that were drawing massive crowds? Yanked out immediately to make room for new content. Christmas decorations from a season that ended weeks ago? Still hanging around.
Priorities, Disney. Priorities.
What This Means If You’re Visiting Soon
If you’re heading to Hollywood Studios and you were hoping to see the Taylor Swift costumes, we’re sorry to be the bearers of bad news, but that ship has sailed. The exhibit is completely gone and it’s not coming back.
The Percy Jackson Season 2 display is now open during regular Walt Disney Presents hours starting at 9 AM. There’s no Early Entry access anymore, so resort guests don’t get any special advantage for viewing it.
How long will the Percy Jackson exhibit stay? Your guess is as good as ours. Disney doesn’t announce end dates for these promotional displays. Based on the Taylor Swift experience, it could be there for months or it could disappear tomorrow if Disney decides they need the space for something else.
The lesson here is that if you see a temporary exhibit at Disney that you really want to experience, don’t wait. Don’t assume it’ll be there next month or next season. These promotional displays rotate based on Disney’s marketing needs, not guest demand, and they can vanish with basically no warning.
Percy Jackson fans should definitely check out the new display while it’s available. It’s well done and if you love the show, you’ll appreciate seeing the actual costumes and props up close.
But Swifties? Pour one out for what could have been. Those gorgeous Eras Tour costumes deserved a longer run at Hollywood Studios, and the lack of advance warning about their removal was a miss on Disney’s part.
