Trader Sam’s Tiki Bar Closing Next Month, Disney Confirms

Disneyland Resort announced Wednesday that one of its most beloved nightlife destinations will shut down for renovations next month. Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel will close its indoor section on February 17, although outdoor seating will remain open to serve guests during the refurbishment period.

Closure Date Set For Trader Sam’s

Disneyland Resort confirmed January 7 that the interior of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar will close for renovations beginning February 17, 2026. The bar’s outdoor seating area remains operational throughout the refurbishment, continuing to serve the venue’s regular menu to Disney Park guests.

Theme park journalist Scott Gustin shared the news on X (formerly known as Twitter):

NEW: Disneyland confirms Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel will begin interior renovations on Feb. 17. During the refurb period, indoor seating will be closed but outdoor seating will remain available.

Disneyland Resort hasn’t provided a reopening date for the indoor bar. However, construction permits filed late last year offer clues about what changes guests can expect when Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar returns.

Construction Permits Reveal Planned Updates

Disneyland Resort filed construction permits in October 2025 for work at the exact address of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar. The permit application detailed the scope of planned renovations:

“DLH – Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar – Tenant Improvement: Replace (42) gas tiki torches with epoxy anchors at exterior. Install air conditioner at electrical room. Replace interior show effects, show lighting and lighting systems. With mechanical, electrical and plumbing.”

The permit language suggests significant changes to the bar’s atmosphere. Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar is famous for its tiki torches, simulated rainstorms, and elaborate special effects integrated throughout the space. Whether “replace interior show effects, show lighting, and lighting systems” means Disneyland Resort is simply swapping out worn equipment or introducing entirely new magical elements remains unclear.
