Visitors arriving in EPCOT this week are facing significant changes inside the Norway World Showcase Pavilion as a major section of the area becomes inaccessible due to construction. The shift is immediately noticeable during the early morning rush, when guests typically move quickly toward the Frozen (2013)-themed attractions. Norway remains one of the most in-demand locations in the park because it features Frozen Ever After, the Anna and Elsa meet-and-greet, and the popular Disney Princess dining experience at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.
The current project commenced in September, beginning with a small set of construction walls around the beverage kiosk located near Royal Sommerhus. According to WDWNT, recent work extended those barriers across a busy walkway, limiting the routes guests usually take to move through the Norway World Showcase Pavilion.
The primary path leading to the restrooms is now blocked, requiring visitors to use a narrow back walkway behind the Royal Sommerhus instead.
Pathway Restrictions Influence Frozen Guest Flow
Despite the closure, Anna and Elsa continue greeting guests inside their Royal Sommerhus location. The surrounding courtyard, sometimes used for seasonal Frozen topiaries, now sits behind the newly expanded construction zone. The barriers continue along the Pavilion and connect to a stretch of green scrim behind the State Church building, creating a much larger blocked-off area than before.
The alterations also impact the Norway Holiday Storytellers, who have been relocated from their usual stage during the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays because the construction occupies their traditional performance space.
Norway Joins Other EPCOT World Showcase Projects
Walt Disney World Resort has not released public details about the nature of the ongoing construction work. The project, which started in September, is believed to involve updates or improvements to the beverage kiosk area.
The Norway Pavilion is one of several EPCOT World Showcase locations undergoing changes this year. Crews recently completed a Disney Vacation Club lounge in the Canada Pavilion and installed a Gachapon mystery capsule toy kiosk in the Japan Pavilion.
