This week, EPCOT guests were surprised to see a large, covered seating area removed from the walkway between the Creations Shop and Connections Café in the World Celebration neighborhood. What was once a cool space for guests to relax and take in the atmosphere of the Disney park has now vanished.
On Thursday, October 23, Reddit user u/Elegant_Bar_1622 posted a photo showing the now-empty space where the seating area had been. The large seating area was a rarity at Walt Disney World Resort, providing an opportunity for park-goers to sit, eat, and people-watch while enjoying the views in the newly renovated area of EPCOT.

“Yall. They’ve taken away the seating in between Connections and Creations at EPCOT!” the user wrote in their post. “Why would they do that? Was there an announcement I missed?”
While Walt Disney World Resort has yet to release an official statement explaining the sudden removal, Disney Parks fans were quick to share their own theories and frustrations.
Several Disney Parks fans on Reddit speculated that the removal could be related to guest behavior in the area. Some pointed to issues with pin traders, who often use the area to sit and trade, which may have caused discomfort for other guests.
“This used to be one of my favorite areas to sit, eat, and people watch,” said Reddit user u/Experiment626b. “Now pin traders with binders full of 1000s of dollars worth of pins camp out here and steal all the seating from everyone so they can be jerks to casual pin traders or rip them off. I actually saw one of them celebrating one day after. Trade with just a normal family with a handful of pins. They waited until they walked away and weren’t looking and just starting freaking out.”
“Agreed it’s gotten so weird and rude in this area!!” u/AgitatedCockroach862 agreed. “My first assumption is they removed the seating to stop pin hawkers from camping out there.”
Others, however, believe the removal may be temporary ahead of the upcoming runDisney events at EPCOT.
“Half marathon this weekend goes through there, they probably removed it for that,” u/Funkyneat commented.
“They absolutely were removed for the race,” said u/gmmwewlma. “Next Tuesday they will be right back.”
Despite the theories, Walt Disney World Resort has yet to comment on the removal of the seating area. It’s unclear whether the change is permanent or temporary.
