On Thursday, October 23, police and emergency responders arrived at Disney’s Contemporary Resort following reports of an incident outside the Magic Kingdom-area hotel. Witnesses described a large response, with multiple emergency vehicles and crews working to secure the area.

According to a report from WDWNT, entrances to Bay Lake Tower were temporarily closed while dozens of law enforcement and medical personnel investigated. Eyewitnesses observed ambulances, police cars, and fire trucks parked in front of the resort as responders set up barriers and restricted guest access.

From their hotel room overlooking the scene, TikTok user @aiotfamily captured a video showing yellow police tape and several emergency responders stationed below. The user said they were informed the situation involved a “medical emergency.”

Cast Members Shield Guests From the Area

Disney cast members reportedly worked to shield guests from viewing the ongoing response, using towel carts, scaffolding, and other equipment to block visibility of the restricted area. Several visitors claimed on social media that cast members knocked on doors and asked guests not to look out their balconies as the situation unfolded.

One guest, Cindy Harriman Alford, shared a post on Facebook showing emergency vehicles parked outside the Contemporary Resort. She described a heavy security presence around the building and said cast members were positioned in front of windows facing the back side of Bay Lake Tower.

“Well, I’m staying here at Bay Lake Towers in Disney World. And there are over 40 security cars, an ambulance, a firetruck out front. All entrances have been blocked to Bay Lake. Something happened in the back of the building with crime scene tape surrounding the water fountain. I don’t know if somebody jumped or accidentally fell to their death, but something happened. And they have an employee at every single window to shield you from looking out the back so you can’t view. Not to mention about 30 executives and employee employees standing around. Someone jumped from the contemporary last week. This is craziness.”

Third Tragic Report in Recent Weeks

By around 1:00 p.m. EST, witnesses reported that the area had been cleared and emergency vehicles had departed the property. Neither Walt Disney World Resort nor local authorities have issued official statements about the nature of the emergency on Thursday morning.

The latest incident marks the second emergency call to the Contemporary Resort in recent weeks, following a confirmed fatal fall involving a 31-year-old woman on October 14. A separate incident also occurred on October 21 at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds, where a man reportedly died of natural causes.
