Disney Erases Dole Whip From Restaurant Menus, Fans Dismayed by Sudden Change
Disneyland Resort is reportedly struggling to maintain functional Dole Whip machines at one of its most popular dining locations, meaning that countless Disney Park guests are missing out on their favorite frozen pineapple treat. If you’re headed to the Southern California Disney parks anytime soon, here’s what you need to know.
Dole Whip is one of the most popular treats at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. The pineapple-flavored, dairy-free soft serve is most famously offered in a cup or as a float with pineapple juice in Adventureland at Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom Park. However, the original flavor is also available at other Disney Park locations, including Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and, sometimes, EPCOT. Other fruit flavors, including raspberry, lime, strawberry, and more, are available seasonally throughout the Disney parks, Disney Resort hotels, and Disney Springs.
At Disneyland Resort, arguably the second most popular place to purchase Dole Whip is Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, an immersive dining experience located at the Disneyland Hotel, inspired by the Jungle Cruise. Unfortunately, recent visitors to the Grog Grotto have discovered that Dole Whip, which the bar often mixes with rum to create a delightful frozen cocktail, is currently unavailable indefinitely.
On Saturday, Redditor u/Savedbythebell98 reported that Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar’s Dole Whip machine was “out of service” for the day. Disney cast members were unable to provide the guest with a timeline on when the frozen treats would return.
Several commenters stated that the issue had been going on for much longer than just one day.
“It was out of service last week too,” said u/TheRealTupacboy.
It’s unclear whether the Dole Whip machine at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar has been repaired in the days since.
In addition to Dole Whip-related menu items, Trader Sam’s serves craft cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages in collectable souvenir cups, as well as a limited breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. The location welcomes guests of all ages until 8:00 p.m., when it becomes 21+ only. Advance reservations are highly recommended, but a walk-up list is available.
