Magic Kingdom Location Closed: Something New, Magical Is Heading This Way

There’s a reason families race to secure reservations at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. For years, this royal transformation spot has been one of the most sought-after experiences inside Disney parks, turning kids into princes, princesses, and adventurers with the help of a little pixie dust.

But behind the castle walls, something new is brewing. Disney has filed fresh paperwork signaling that changes are on the horizon for both the boutique and its neighboring Fantasyland shop. For guests planning trips in the next few months, that means exciting updates—and a few strategies you’ll want to keep in mind to make the most of them.

The transformation has always been about more than hair and costumes—it’s about memories that last long after your child takes off their tiara or crown. And now, Disney is giving this fan-favorite an upgrade that ties even more storybook magic into the experience.

The Latest: New Permit Filed at Magic Kingdom

On September 24, a Notice of Commencement was filed for construction work at Sir Mickey’s, a shop located in Fantasyland. According to the permit, the project involves installing “scenic and prop elements” as well as “audio and lighting equipment.”

Why does that matter? Because Sir Mickey’s is closely linked to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique—it hosts the PhotoPass studio often paired with the makeover packages. Disney has also confirmed that new features are officially on the way. In their own words: “New enhancements are coming to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, including special visits from The Fairy Godmother!

This signals that Disney is weaving character interactions directly into the boutique experience, something many families have wished for. Alongside that addition, the boutique will debut streamlined package options, making it easier for parents to choose the best fit. These changes are expected to debut in early October, just before the holiday rush.

Why Magic Kingdom Fans Are Buzzing About This Update

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is more than a salon—it’s a cherished Disney tradition. Since opening nearly two decades ago in Disney Springs and later at Magic Kingdom, it has become a rite of passage for many kids visiting the parks.

Now, with the addition of the Fairy Godmother and updated packages, the experience blends nostalgia with fresh storytelling. Fans are already reacting online, and demand is expected to spike in October as families scramble to grab a spot. The timing couldn’t be better—new enhancements just ahead of the holiday season mean thousands of photos, videos, and memories will be shared across social media.

Disney’s latest construction at Sir Mickey’s ties directly into a bigger evolution of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. From new scenic design to character-driven storytelling, the experience is about to feel more immersive than ever before.

If you’re visiting soon, plan ahead, book early, and be ready to witness Fantasyland step into its next chapter of enchantment.

Since first stepping inside the Magic Kingdom at nine years old, I knew I was destined to be a theme Park enthusiast. Although I consider myself a theme Park junkie, I still have much to learn and discover about Disney. Universal Orlando Resort has my heart; being an Annual Passholder means visiting my favorite places on Earth when possible! When I’m not writing about Disney, Universal, or entertainment news, you’ll find me cruising on my motorcycle, hiking throughout my local metro parks, or spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, or friends.
