Walt Disney World is preparing for a transformation unlike any in its history. By 2030, four new lands will reimagine areas of the resort, creating spaces filled with new stories, characters, and attractions. Each project builds on Disney’s long tradition of refreshing underused areas and weaving in fresh storytelling for guests of all ages.
The first land to open will be Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, debuting in 2027 on the site of DinoLand U.S.A. The new space will include an Encanto attraction centered on the Madrigal family’s magical Casita. In addition, the current DINOSAUR ride system will be rethemed for an Indiana Jones adventure, marking a new chapter for the park.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also preparing for big changes with the arrival of Monstropolis, a land inspired by Monsters, Inc.. Located where Muppet*Vision 3D and its courtyard once stood, the land will introduce family-friendly experiences, themed dining, and a groundbreaking roller coaster based on the door chase sequence from the Pixar film.
At Magic Kingdom, two expansions are moving forward. Piston Peak, drawing inspiration from the Cars universe, will bring attractions designed for the whole family near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Just beyond, the long-discussed Villains Land is now in active development.
Earlier this year, Disney shared how the creative process began for Villains Land. “These conversations made us realize that it was critical to reflect the look and feel of the characters’ animation in the land’s physical structures and appearance, so we set off to Paris, France, and Barcelona, Spain to learn about each city’s architecture and its unique attributes,” Disney Parks Blog reported. At least two major attractions are planned for this expansion, making it one of the most anticipated additions in Walt Disney World’s history.
Dining Dreams From Fans
Guests aren’t only talking about new lands—they’re imagining future dining as well. The recent opening of the Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired Beak and Barrel tavern in Magic Kingdom has inspired fan conversations online about what should come next.
On Reddit, user Stempdog218 wrote: “I would be all in on a Haunted Mansion dining hall/restaurant. Ghosts flying around the room, in character waiters/waitresses, could have different rooms of the restaurant be different rooms from the mansion. What would yours be?”
Others chimed in with variations of the Haunted Mansion idea. rtkane suggested: “I think a Haunted Mansion bar like the Beak and Barrel but themed like you have this would be great! Imagine mirrors where a ghost appears, things moving on their own. Creepy sounds and noises. I’d love it!”
Another fan imagined Madame Leota calling out names of diners from her séance room, while Lopan proposed a full concept for Liberty Square’s Harbor House. His version included Constance’s wedding receptions, portraits of Haunted Mansion spirits in their human forms, and spectral guests appearing at tables before vanishing.
Beyond Haunted Mansion ideas, fans also pitched a Tower of Terror dining experience at Hollywood Studios, a Mad Tea Party-inspired restaurant in Magic Kingdom, and an EPCOT eatery tied to Living with the Land.
Looking Ahead
Though these dining concepts are only guest ideas, the confirmed projects show a clear commitment from Disney. Walt Disney World’s future is centered on immersive lands, iconic franchises, and experiences that will connect with what Josh D’Amaro has called “a brand new generation of Disney fans.”
