After 8 Months, Disneyland Shuts Down Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Overnight

Last week, Disneyland Resort’s version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure abruptly shut down after midnight, leaving a few riders stuck on the attraction. The shutdown left them drenched from the ride’s water features, making for an uncomfortable situation as they waited for the ride to resume.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened at Disneyland Park on November 15, 2024, four months after Walt Disney World Resort premiered its version of the Splash Mountain retheme at Magic Kingdom Park. The updated attraction, inspired by The Princess and the Frog (2009), replaces the controversial Song of the South (1946) theme from the original ride.

Both versions of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure faced some operational challenges early on–Walt Disney World Resort had to cancel several Annual Passholder and Disney cast member previews. Disneyland Park’s version seemed to experience fewer issues, but as with any new ride, occasional interruptions are expected.

Last week, TikTok user Erica E (@lilweirdgemini) shared her and another guest’s experience getting stuck on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure after midnight. They were already soaked from the ride’s main drop, and they continued to get splashed by the waterfall for several minutes.

“We got stuck right after the drop but was getting splashed by the waterfall for 10 straight minutes…in the cold right at midnight,” the guest wrote.

The cold, drenched guests were left waiting for about ten minutes before the ride resumed operation. Despite the uncomfortable experience, Erica took the situation in stride, even captioning her video: “I’d do it again.”

Disneyland Resort typically doesn’t comment on minor operational disruptions like this, so it remains unclear why the log flume ride paused that night. However, the attraction was back in operation shortly after the incident, and there were no reports of further issues by the time the article was published.
