Book Now: Disney Moves Full Steam Ahead on Texas Expansion

Disney Cruise Line is setting its sights on Texas as it reportedly expands its operations out of Galveston. This is an exciting move for Disney fans in the region, providing even more opportunities to experience Disney magic without traveling far from home.

Since 2012, Galveston has served as a seasonal homeport for Disney Cruise Line, with ships like the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder offering limited Caribbean and Bahamas sailings. However, Disney is now moving forward with plans to increase its presence in Texas, with some reports suggesting the possibility of full-time sailings out of Galveston by 2027, according to the Galveston County Daily News.

This expansion comes alongside Disney Cruise Line’s broader fleet growth. With the recent addition of the Disney Treasure and upcoming ships like the Disney Adventure and Disney Destiny, and five unnamed vessels expected by 2031, Disney Cruise Line is working to meet the growing demand for cruise vacations. As Florida ports become increasingly crowded, Texas is looking like the perfect location for Disney to broaden its reach and offer more sailings.

On Tuesday, Disney Cruise Line sent an email marketing campaign to thousands of Disney theme park fans announcing new sailing opportunities out of Galveston. The email featured an enticing message: “Something’s sailing into Texas…” followed by an invitation for guests to book a sailing out of the Texas port.

Well, now it’s possible because the magic of Disney is closer than you imagine. Disney Cruise Line is sailing from Galveston, Texas to give you an enchanting vacation that’s just a short journey away,” the email read.

While the email doesn’t specifically mention Disney’s potential full-time presence in Galveston in 2027, the website still notes that sailings are “available for a limited time only.” These trips include visits to destinations like Cozumel, Mexico, Progreso, Mexico, and Grand Cayman Island, with four- to seven-night itineraries. Guests can also enjoy themed sailings such as the Very Merrytime Cruises and Marvel Day at Sea.
