Horror Icon Returns: Universal Studios’ HHN 34 Unveils New Friday the 13th House

The Perfect Announcement for a Terrifying Day

Imagine being trapped in the shadowed woods of Camp Crystal Lake, the air thick with fog and the sound of a distant, chilling metallic scrape. The legend of Jason Voorhees looms large, and this time, there’s nowhere to run. This fall, Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights will bring one of horror’s most notorious killers back into the spotlight — but what makes this new maze different from all the rest?

Universal Studios HHN 34: A New Chapter in the Friday the 13th Legacy

Universal Studios Hollywood (USH) and Universal Studios Florida (USF) have confirmed that Jason Universe will be the second haunted house for their 2025 Halloween Horror Nights event. Marking 45 years since the original Friday the 13th film debuted, this maze will immerse visitors in an all-new storyline set at the infamous Camp Crystal Lake.

Guests will find themselves stalked through eerie, decaying locations, from Jason’s battered cabin to a deteriorating lodge and dense forest. As they weave through these chilling scenes, they’ll face “killer moments” inspired by the entire Friday the 13th film series.

A “Vengeance Tour” of Nightmares

Unlike a simple tribute, this experience promises a fresh narrative — a “vengeance tour” where the haunting feels immediate and personal. Each step in the maze is designed to keep visitors on edge, blending moments of suspense with intense scares that capture the essence of Jason’s deadly legacy.

This addition follows last year’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre maze, which successfully combined new storytelling with respectful nods to the franchise’s history. It also arrives shortly after Universal revealed the first 2025 HHN maze based on Fallout, the popular post-apocalyptic game series, showing how the event is embracing diverse horror themes.

Expanding the Horror Universe

Universal is not limiting its horror offerings to Halloween Horror Nights alone. The company is set to launch Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas, featuring houses based on classic and modern horror films like The Exorcist: Believer and Universal Monsters.

Meanwhile, UOR’s new Orlando park, Epic Universe, will debut the “Dark Universe” land, bringing to life iconic creatures such as Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Bride of Frankenstein. This expansion highlights Universal’s commitment to making horror a year-round attraction for fans everywhere.

Why This Matters for Universal Horror Fans

What makes Jason Universe more than just another haunted house is its timing and depth. By revisiting Camp Crystal Lake with a new story that respects decades of fan devotion, Universal is keeping the spirit of the franchise alive while pushing creative boundaries.

This move also signals a broader trend: the theme park giant is positioning itself as a leader in immersive horror experiences, combining popular culture, nostalgia, and original ideas to create unforgettable thrills.

Dates to Remember

  • UOR’s Halloween Horror Nights will kick off August 29, 2025.

  • USH will begin their event on September 4, 2025.

Will you be brave enough to face Jason’s wrath at Camp Crystal Lake this fall?
