As spring break crowds begin to roll into Central Florida, Walt Disney World Resort is locking paying guests out of Blizzard Beach due to capacity limits.
Disney Resort hotel guests typically enjoy a free perk on their check-in day: complimentary entry to one of Disney’s two water parks. However, with spring break crowds growing, Blizzard Beach has already reached capacity on several occasions, leaving guests standing at the gates, unable to enjoy the park. This is a growing issue, and guests should expect these denials to continue as the busy spring season picks up.
Currently, Blizzard Beach is the only water park open at Walt Disney World Resort, while Typhoon Lagoon remains closed for maintenance until May 1, 2025. Once Typhoon Lagoon reopens, Blizzard Beach will shut down for maintenance on May 1 and remain closed through May 20. Both water parks will be operational from May 21 to September 7, which should ease some of the pressure.
Earlier this year, Blizzard Beach had to close unexpectedly due to low temperatures and inclement weather, leaving many guests without access to the park. Now, it’s not weather keeping people out—it’s sheer crowd volume. As spring break approaches, this trend is expected to worsen, and guests planning to visit Blizzard Beach should be prepared for possible capacity issues.
