Disney World Experience Goes Live for Millions

As the days grow warmer across Central Florida, Walt Disney World Resort is gearing up for a splash-filled season—and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is ready to make waves once again. After a winter of frosty fun at its sister site, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon is officially set to reopen its gates to guests starting May 1.

Since the pandemic, Disney has alternated operations between its two beloved water parks. Typhoon Lagoon typically serves as the go-to destination during the summer months, while Blizzard Beach has remained a favorite during the cooler season. But this year brings something special: for the first time in six years, all of Walt Disney World’s theme and water parks will be open simultaneously beginning May 21.

Adding to the excitement, the fan-favorite H2O Glow After Hour* event will return to Typhoon Lagoon on select nights from May 23 through September 13. This separately ticketed nighttime event transforms the tropical oasis into a radiant celebration under the stars, complete with DJ dance parties, beloved Disney characters, shorter wait times on attractions like Castaway Creek and the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, and complimentary snacks—including popcorn, ice cream novelties, and select beverages.

Tickets for the limited-capacity event went on early sale starting April 1, with general public sales opening today, April 4.

Meanwhile, over at Blizzard Beach, the park is wrapping up a frosty, fun-filled celebration in honor of its 30th anniversary, running through April 30. Guests can enjoy a flurry of themed festivities including character encounters and wintry surprises.

“Just imagine a high-energy DJ spinning some toe-tapping tunes on the deck near the Polar Pub,” Disney Parks Blog shared. “And fun interactions with Mickey and Minnie decked out in their winter attire. There’s even going to be snowman bowling and character-themed tubes for floating down Cross Country Creek.”

Blizzard Beach’s milestone celebration launched on April 1, offering guests a festive way to say goodbye before the park closes once again for the season.

All of this unfolds as Walt Disney World continues to evolve in exciting new ways. With its four iconic theme parks, two water parks, and Disney Springs, the resort remains a cornerstone of family travel and entertainment. Yet 2025 marks a notable transition year, with major updates in the works across the property.

From the upcoming transformation of Grand Avenue into Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, to new Encanto and Indiana Jones experiences coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and fresh Cars and Disney Villains offerings headed to Magic Kingdom, a new era is taking shape.

While some guests may choose to wait for these new additions to debut, many are diving into what’s already on offer—like racing through time on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT, adventuring through Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom, or relaxing at Disney Springs after a day in the parks.

Whether you’re dancing under the stars at H2O Glow or drifting down a lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon, Disney’s water parks offer a cool and carefree escape in the middle of all the magic.

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
