Universal Orlando Resort is making final preparations for the launch of Epic Universe, which is expected to draw massive crowds when it opens on May 22, 2025. In a recent update, Universal announced an expansion of its Team Member Preview period, allowing employees to visit the park for an extended time and more frequently than originally planned. This move not only gives Universal’s staff a chance to experience the park ahead of guests, but also signals how much anticipation there is for this brand-new addition to Orlando’s theme park scene.
Preview Period Now Longer and More Flexible
Initially, Universal had scheduled its Team Member Preview from March 1 through March 7. However, the updated policy nearly doubles the availability, extending the period through March 14. Another major change allows Team Members to visit Epic Universe up to three times, rather than just once as originally planned.
While these updates provide more flexibility for employees, Universal is still enforcing a strict reservation system. Team Members must book their preview visit through the External Ticket Distribution System, with tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, Universal has made it clear that no photos, videos, or live streams will be permitted during this phase, keeping details under wraps until the park officially opens.
Why Universal’s Crowds Could Surge in 2025
Epic Universe is already expected to bring in record-breaking attendance to Universal Orlando. As the first new major theme park in Florida in decades, it will introduce highly themed lands, new thrill rides, and immersive experiences that many fans are eager to explore. Universal has already begun revealing key details, such as which attractions will offer single rider lines and how the park will be integrated into the resort’s existing infrastructure.
Adding to the expected crowd surge is the fact that Walt Disney World will be undergoing major construction throughout 2025. With extensive updates happening at EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, and Animal Kingdom, guests may find themselves faced with temporary closures and limited experiences. Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland will see ongoing work with the Beyond Big Thunder Mountain project, while Animal Kingdom will be replacing Dinoland U.S.A. with new Encanto and Indiana Jones attractions. These projects could lead some Disney fans to shift their focus toward Universal, where Epic Universe offers a completely fresh experience without the hassle of construction walls and closed attractions.
With more visitors potentially choosing Universal over Disney due to construction, 2025 could be one of Universal Orlando’s most crowded years. To accommodate demand, Universal is not only launching Epic Universe but also expanding its resort offerings, including new hotels conveniently located near the new park.
The extended Team Member Preview period is a sign that Universal is preparing for an enormous wave of guests when Epic Universe officially opens. By allowing employees to visit multiple times before the public debut, the company is ensuring a smooth rollout while generating even more excitement for what is shaping up to be one of the biggest theme park openings in history.
