For Disney World guests visiting Animal Kingdom, one of the most popular meet-and-greet experiences is undergoing a temporary relocation. Mickey and Minnie Mouse, who typically greet guests at Adventurers Outpost, have moved to a new location while the Outpost undergoes refurbishment.
A Temporary Change in Location
From February 25-27, 2025, Adventurers Outpost on Discovery Island will be closed for maintenance, prompting Mickey and Minnie to relocate to Dinoland U.S.A. Guests can now find them outside of Restaurantosaurus, where they continue to meet fans in their safari outfits. While some visitors enjoy the unique backdrop of Dinoland, others are disappointed that they won’t be able to meet them at their usual themed setting.
Disney has assured visitors that this change is only temporary, with the meet-and-greet expected to return to its original location by February 28. This means that guests visiting for a short time might have to adjust their plans, while others who frequent the parks will likely see the return of the duo to the Outpost soon.
Controversy Over PhotoPass Boxes
This temporary move has also reignited discussions about Disney’s use of automated PhotoPass boxes rather than human photographers. Adventurers Outpost was one of the locations that switched to automated cameras, and while some guests appreciate the efficiency, others feel that these devices fail to capture the magic of in-person photography.
It is unclear whether the temporary Dinoland meet-and-greet will also rely on PhotoPass boxes or if cast members will handle photography manually. Some speculate that since the move is temporary, human photographers may be present, which could improve the guest experience.
What Will Change at Adventurers Outpost?
Disney has not disclosed the specific updates being made to the Outpost, but since the closure is only for a few days, changes will likely be minimal—perhaps fresh paint, updated decor, or minor enhancements. Guests shouldn’t expect major alterations to the popular meet-and-greet space.
For those visiting Animal Kingdom during the refurbishment period, checking the My Disney Experience app for updated character locations and schedules is recommended. While the move is brief, it does impact the guest experience, making it essential for visitors to plan accordingly.
