7 Awesome Musical Experiences You Can’t Miss At Walt Disney World

I have a heart for music, which means I am always drawn to musical experiences. Disney has some of my absolute favorites! I love to catch musical attractions and experiences, but I also adore just keeping an ear out for some soothing Disney sounds.

7. Festival of The Lion King

All of Animal Kingdom is essentially a celebration of the earth and Festival of the Lion King is a musical version of that celebration. There are four main performers that host the show and do all of the live singing. All of the music is from the movie, while keeping to the African tradition as the Festival resides in Harambe Village. This is an awesome experience because every minute of the show feels like a party.

6. Disney Springs Entertainment

Disney Springs is a space begging to come alive. The performers that grace the Disney Springs stages are all different and full of energy. The main stage is generally occupied by school groups that gather crowds every day. The House of Blues is famous for its awesome music and never disappoints. Splitsville also brings in really fun artists who play live music next to the lower level bowling lanes! My favorite form of musical entertainment can be found right outside Raglan Road. I love the live band that plays on the patio and the traditional Irish music and dancers inside. You can’t really escape music in this party district!

5. Dapper Dans

These guys are so cool. This barbershop quartet is meant for entertainment, through and through. The four guys that come out on Main Street throughout the day are goofy, hugely talented, and iconic. They sometimes have instruments to accompany their classic pipes, but I’ve seen them most when they’re just singing. They sing Americana songs as well as classic Disney pieces that feel right at home on Main Street.

4. Casey’s Corner Pianist

Many people may not notice this musical experience, which is really a shame. Right outside of the exit of Casey’s on Main Street is a white, upright piano that is often being played by a smiling man in a pinstripe vest. This experience is awesome because it just seems so fitting that something like that would occur. It’s so idyllic. If you swing by for a listen, say hi to Jim for me.

3. Candlelight Processional

For me, there is no better way to get in the Christmas spirit than to visit Disney and attend the Candlelight Processional. The star of this concert is the message that is proclaimed, but the music that surrounds it is a gorgeous co-star. The massive choirs and orchestra fill the American Adventure Pavilion with joy. For those who know or appreciate music, will adore this experience. The complexities and grandeur of this performance will fill you up and ensure you don’t forget the wonder of Christmas.

2. Voices of Liberty

The Voices of Liberty can be found in the lower level of The American Adventure Pavilion in Epcot. The Voices of Liberty really are a part of the American Adventure, not just a pre-show. Most people are in such a rush that they miss this important part of the experience. This small a capella group comes out fifteen minutes before each show and serenades their audience with breathtaking, classic Americana pieces. Guests sit in the middle circle of the giant-domed room and bask in the music that never fails to move me to tears.

1. Grand Floridian Musicians

These guys just increase my happiness levels. The Grand Floridian is one of my favorite resorts because I just adore its beauty. Everything in the hotel exudes elegance and the music is no exception. The Floridian’s Lobby Society Orchestra is fabulous and takes you back to a time of swing music and dance. They’re always smiling and totally get into their part. However my favorite musical experience in the Floridian is the grand pianist that serenades in the lobby. He comes out in his tux and gracefully plays gorgeous arrangements of well-known songs. I can usually be found melting on a comfy couch when he plays Phantom of the Opera.

Honorable Mentions:

The music everywhere: One of the things that I love most about Disney is the attention to detail they put in everything, including music. Regardless of where you are on Disney property or what seemingly mundane thing you are doing, there will be music somewhere in the background. Stroll the Oasis in Animal Kingdom for some of the most relaxing music ever. Or grab an ice cream and peruse the Boardwalk! That music can take you back to another time. How about the music at the fountain in Epcot? Grab a Starbucks and enjoy the show-it’s amazing. The detailed ambiance absolutely everywhere makes every Disney experience that much better.
