If you’re looking for something a little different from most Magic Kingdom attractions, climb aboard your “doom-buggy” and enjoy your tour through the Haunted Mansion. There you’ll find 999 happy haunts around every corner. While there are plenty of reasons to love the Haunted Mansion, (I’d say there’s room for 1,000), here are my top five.
5. The ride queue
Upon entering gates of the mansion, you’ll be greeted with death stares (pun intended) from the Haunted Mansion’s Cast Members. During your wait, you will pass the tombstones of guests like Fred Joerger. His tombstone reads, “Here lies good old Fred a great big rock fell on his head. R.I.P.” Fun fact: each name is a former Disney Cast Member or Imagineer who helped make the Haunted Mansion what it is today. Also, be on the lookout for Madame Leota – she’s always watching.
4. The monologue
“Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion.” Come on, if you love this ride as much as I do, you know you want to keep going. Before the ride even starts – or so you think – you’ll hear your ghost-host welcome you to the haunted mansion and begin your tour through the house.
3. The hitchhiking ghosts
Before your ghost host finishes his tour, he will warn you of hitchhiking ghosts who will try to exit the ride with you. Make sure you look out for these guys. These rascally ghosts will mess around with you and your ride buddy and maybe even surprise you by switching your heads! This is a fun and interactive way end to the ride for both young and old riders.

2. It’s happily haunted
The Haunted Mansion may look and sound scary to young ones, but it contains more happy haunts than actual scary ones. (999 to be exact.) Allow your child to ride at your own discretion, or try it out yourself first to make that decision, but know that the Haunted Mansion is not your regular theme-park haunted house.
1. Anyone can ride
The Haunted Mansion is a slow-moving ride, which makes it perfect for the whole family to enjoy. Like many other Walt Disney World attractions, anyone can be transferred from a wheelchair onto the ride, and expectant mothers/young children can ride as well.
PS: If you are into finding hidden Mickeys, don’t forget to look for the one on the ballroom dinner table!
