5 Reasons Why We Love Full Service Dining At Walt Disney World

Foodies love Walt Disney World because there are so many diverse options. That does not mean you should skip the full service restaurants if you do not consider yourself a foodie. Your meals should be an important part of your Walt Disney World vacation. Take some time to research the restaurants, and then make a few reservations! You can book a table up to 180 days in advance at most full service restaurants. Some of them will fill up that quickly. If you can’t get the reservation that you want, keep checking back. Spots will open up as other parties change their plans. A credit card is required to hold a reservation, and you will be charged if you don’t cancel and are a no-show. Here are five reasons why we love full service dining at Walt Disney World.

One quick word about the servers at the full service restaurants; remember that in most cases the gratuity is not included, even if you are on the Disney Dining Plan. Please tip generously, since these men and women are depending on you for their livelihood. If there was a server or other Cast Member who went above and beyond, leave a compliment at guest relations or with the manager. Disney takes compliments very seriously.

5. A Chance for a Break

A Walt Disney World vacation is filled with rushing from one place to the next. You hurry to catch the bus from your hotel, you rush to make it to a ride for a FastPass+ reservation, then you run across the park because you don’t want to miss a show. The downtime is spent standing in long lines, with people packed in all around you. The full service restaurants allow you to take a break. You can sit down in the air conditioning and recharge. While you can do that somewhat at the counter service restaurants, there is still a sense of urgency while dining at them. At the full service restaurants you really can take a vacation from the craziness of your vacation. Make sure you order dessert, so that you can enjoy your break a little while longer.

4. Great Themes

Everything at Walt Disney World is designed to help you escape from reality, and the full service restaurants are no exception. The Imagineers have paid attention to every detail. You really can travel back to a 1950’s drive-in theater, be transported to a Moroccan palace, or even hang out with some Jungle Cruise Skippers trying to earn an extra buck! Some of the restaurants have playful themes, while others are quite sophisticated. Others are somewhere in between or a combination of the two. There’s one thing you can be sure of, the themes and the atmosphere will be incredible, no matter which full service restaurant you dine at.

3. Resort Restaurants

If you are ignoring the Walt Disney World resort restaurants, you are making a huge mistake. These are some of the best dining establishments that you will find on Disney property. You can eat fifteen floors up and then enjoy the Magic Kingdom fireworks, or you can watch African animals walk by as you dine. The food at the resorts is as incredible as the resorts themselves. If you don’t want to take time away from the theme parks, make a dinner reservation for the night you arrive, or breakfast the morning you leave. You will then be able to enjoy a fabulous meal without taking time away from the parks.

2. Signature Dining

For the best meal of your vacation, book a meal at a signature restaurant. You will find them in the parks and at the Deluxe hotels. There is a growing collection of signature restaurants at Disney Springs as well. These restaurants feature the best chefs at Walt Disney World, and some of the menus were created by celebrity chefs. You will find award winning wine lists, signature dishes, incredible desserts, attentive staff, and more. You can sit back, relax, and really enjoy a delectable meal. If you’re dining at a signature restaurant at a resort, make sure that you check to see if there is a dress code before heading there. You don’t want to find out that you’re not properly dressed when you arrive.

1. Delicious Food

The food at the full service restaurants will make you want more! You’ll find French, Cuban, Irish, Asian, African, Mexican, and other cuisines from around the world. Want something simpler like pizza? How about pizza made with flour imported from Italy? You can find sushi, steak, seafood, vegetarian options, jambalaya, noodle bowls, comfort foods, and so much more. No matter what you and your family are in the mood for, you are sure to find a delicious version at Walt Disney World. Special diets and food allergies are also easily accommodated. While at a full service restaurant, you should think about taking a chance on something that you’ve never tried before. You just might find a new favorite!

About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
