Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of my favorite attractions in all of Walt Disney World. Your “three-week trip” (really an 18-minute expedition!) through the Harambe Wildlife Reserve is just one of a few opportunities in Walt Disney World where you can see live animals in their natural habitat. Other locations include the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trails and Rafiki’s Planet Watch.
5. It’s a different ride every time.
When you embark on your safari, you never know what you might see. You may see a lion sitting on “pride rock” in the morning and giraffes walking by your safari truck in the afternoon. Be sure to ride a few times while you’re there in order to see everything!
4. It’s a great photo-op.
Cameras are allowed on this ride, and it’s encouraged to take pictures and videos! Your safari guide will recommend putting your cameras on sports mode, which will definitely help capturing the animals on camera while your safari truck is moving. Don’t forget to use your camera strap if you have one! If you want to take great pictures while on the ride, I recommend sitting in seats closest to the outside of the truck in order to have an unobstructed view – just remember to be polite and not block the view from other riders.
3. It’s a learning experience.
While taking your trip through this African safari, your safari guide will throw out facts here and there about different animals. There’s also a key at the front of the truck that will help you and your kids identify the animals you may not be familiar with. Kilimanjaro Safaris is a great ride to teach your kids about animals – especially ones they have never seen before!

2. It’s fun for the whole family.
Kilimanjaro Safaris is an attraction that everyone in the family can ride. Everyone from toddlers to grandma and grandpa will enjoy their safari. You won’t want to miss it!
1. The Animals!
Thirty-four species of animals roam free on the 110-acre Harambe Wildlife Reserve, where Kilimanjaro Safaris resides. In fact, the reserve could fit the entire 107-acre Magic Kingdom inside it! As you ride, you’ll see elephants, giraffes, rhinos, – oh my! – and so many more in their natural habitats on your excursion through the African wilderness.
