10 Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World

I think we would all agree that there aren’t many things better than a great day at Walt Disney World. Guests spend hours upon hours and days upon days planning to ensure they have the perfect experience when they are on their dream vacation at the most magical place on Earth. The last thing that anyone wants is to have their perfect day end up well…not so perfect. In this article we will outline 10 tips that will help you get the most out of your trip to The Magic Kingdom.

10. Hair Cuts

YES HAIR CUTS! Walt Disney World is all about making memories. Most of us know you can take your princess to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, where they will make all of her dreams of becoming a Disney Princess come true. Did you know there is a barber shop on Main Street in Magic Kingdom? Take your Prince and make a truly memorable experience with a fresh cut that they will never forget.

9. Shopping

Some of the best shopping at Walt Disney World is at the Magic Kingdom. Make sure to build in some time to shop down Main Street. There are so any options from art, hand bags, jewelry, Mickey ears, T-Shirts, etc. Bonus Tip- Wait until the end of the night for shopping, all of the stores on Main Street stay open at least one hour past park closing.

8. Fast Passes

Make sure to utilize Fast Pass Plus when going to Magic Kingdom. There are a few rides that draw guests to Magic Kingdom and typically have longer than usual wait times. You will want to get Fast Passes for Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, and Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train. If you can get these Fast, Passes your day will be smooth sailing.

7. Dining Reservations

You ABSOLUTELY need dining reservations to complete your experience at the Magic Kingdom. With restaurants like Cinderella’s Royal Table, Crystal Palace, and Be Our Guest you will want to ensure you try at least one of these. You will have the opportunity to meet several Princesses at Cinderella’s Royal Table, Winnie the Pooh and Friends at Crystal Palace, and Beast at Be Our Guest. This also allows you to meet characters indoors, out of the heat or rain. This makes everyone happy!

6. Main Street

Take time to enjoy everything that is Main Street. Watch a street performance like the Dapper Dans. Take Pictures in front of the classic mail boxes. Watch the trolley come through and wave. Stop and talk to the Mayor! Totally immerse yourself in this magical place.

5. Parades

What would a day at Magic Kingdom be without a parade? When you make your way through the gates make sure you pick up a times guide. Pick your spot and arrive about 30 minutes before the parade. Watch your little ones be amazed at all of the characters walking and dancing within an arm’s length away.

4. Castle Shows

You will want to stick around for the new castle show-Once Upon A Time. It is a projection show that is projected onto Cinderella’s Castle. It is a wonderful new way to end a magical day at Magic Kingdom.

3. Wishes

Everyone turns into a kid again when they are watching the most popular fire-works show on Disney Property. This is a must see for your Magic Kingdom day. I want to include a bonus here. If you do some research and pre-planning you can find out when Wishes will start in advance. Plan a Fast Pass for Big Thunder Mountain or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train during the show. You will have the most incredible fireworks experience of your life! Our family has nicknamed this the Commercial Experience because it is SO perfect, it could be an advertisement for Disney.

2. Planning

Please plan your day. There is a ton of things to do when you visit Magic Kingdom. Go in with a plan that will allow you to accomplish your “must dos”. Maybe you have a specific Princess you have to meet, or a restaurant you can’t wait to try. These are things that you should plan in advance to make it as efficient and enjoyable as possible.

1. Be Flexible

I know, I just said plan. Do not allow your plans to be so strict that you ruin your day. If you or someone in your family is having a non-scheduled magical moment, let it happen. If you miss a fast pass making a priceless, unforgettable memory, so what! Enjoy your day, after all you are on vacation!

About Brandon Blanchard

Brandon Blanchard has been married for 14 years and has 5 children. All 7 Blanchards are infatuated with Disney World! Their Disney Infatuation started after his wife, Esme, convinced him to take their then four children (7 and under) to Disney in December of 2010. She had grown up going to Disney and wanted her own children to experience the magic! He told her that they could go once, but he didn't know why on earth he needed to use a whole week of his vacation time. There were only 4 parks! After walking down Main Street for the first time, Brandon looked at his wife and he started the next sentence with the most magical four words: “When we come back…” Disney World has become their happy place and can make everything right! After a series of corporate relocations, Brandon jumped on one that would move his family to Central Florida permanently in 2015. Professionally, Brandon is a manager for a Technical Support Company. Esme homeschools their 5 children who think it is SO COOL that they have the freedom and flexibility to visit theme parks weekly!
