Walt Disney World is full of gems! There are hidden gems in the attractions, the backstories to the rides, little nods to Imagineers and Hidden Mickeys are everywhere, if you know where to look. There are also gems to be discovered at Disney resorts. Finding out those hidden gems could definitely add some pixie dust to your stay and help you get more out of your time spent at the resorts. Here are 9 points most people don’t know about Deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World.
9. The Electrical Water Pageant sails nightly around the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake,
and the best places to watch this parade are from the Deluxe resorts near Magic Kingdom. It can be seen from the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, the Grand Floridian, and the Contemporary. You’ll see Neptune and his sea horses, dolphins, and even a sea serpent glide across the water.
8. On Mondays and Fridays at the Grand Floridian there is a Parasol Parade at 8am.
The housekeeping cast members carry pink parasols as they wander throughout the grounds. To add a little extra magic to the parade a couple of guests, usually young girls, staying at the resort will be selected to carry a parasol as well and lead the parade.
7. The theme parks aren’t the only places to hunt for Hidden Mickeys,
they’re at the resorts too! Keep your eye on the floors, many Hidden Mickeys can be found in the carpet or tile designs. There’s at least one at the Contemporary, and at the Beach Club in a hallway, you’ll find three beach balls that form a Hidden Mickey. Animal Kingdom Lodge has many Hidden Mickeys, one can be found in the rocks near the restaurant Sanaa, and if you look up at the chandeliers in the front lobby there’s a Mickey in there too! Hidden Mickeys are all over the resorts, so keep your eyes on the look out and see how many Hidden Mickeys you can find.

6. If you love learning about the stories behind all things Disney,
than head over to the Wilderness Lodge for a free tour! The tour is about an hour and will go over some of the details and backstory that are often missed at this resort, as well as some American history.
5. If you like free tours, Animal Kingdom Lodge has one for you.
They offer a Culinary Tour of Boma and Jiko, two of the restaurants at the resort. Make your way over to the podium at Boma around 4pm for this 30-minute tour. Your guide will tell you about the décor throughout the restaurants, the theming and you may even get a sample or two!
4. The Polynesian has a spectacular view of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom.
Worried about missing the magical music that goes along with Happily Ever After? Well don’t, Disney has thought of everything! The music and sound that accompanies the firework show plays through speakers around the resort, so all you’ll be missing are the big crowds on Main Street.
3. Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the more truly unique Deluxe resorts simply because of the animals!
But many guests may worry that they won’t be able to see many animals because either they’re spending most of their time in the parks, or because many of the animals are more active at night. Once again, Disney has thought of everything. Because they know that many animals are around at night, they offer a nightly viewing of the animals using night vision goggles. How many opportunities will you have to view exotic animals with night vision goggles?
2. If you’re staying at the Contemporary,
take a moment to find the little butterfly garden that is located near the pool. You’ll see flowers and butterflies of course, making it the perfect spot to snap some pictures, or just take a moment to yourselves and admire your surroundings and the little touches that make Disney so wonderful.
1. There is a little known attraction at the Wilderness Lodge,
the Firerock Geyser which erupts throughout the day, and when it does it shoots 120 feet into the air! You’ll find Firerock Geyser if you follow the path behind the pool area. The geyser erupts hourly from 7am until 10pm, and if you happen to be there at the right time, it’s quite the sight!
