10 Reasons Why Walt Disney World Is The Ultimate Vacation Spot

Over 100 million people visit Disney parks worldwide each year. Those who have been to the parks bring home memories and experiences that will last a lifetime. Truthfully, this list could be much longer, but we have taken on the challenge of narrowing down the 10 reasons why Disney is the ultimate spot to book your next vacation!

10. Full Service

Right from the start, Disney offers a vacation that provides service above all others. If you are looking for a vacation that takes care of everything, look no further. If you happen to be flying into Orlando and staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, you will receive special luggage tags in the mail allowing Disney Cast Members to pick up your bags from the airport and deliver them straight to your room. Transportation from the airport to the resort is available courtesy of Disney’s Magical Express. Spend the drive watching a combination of classic cartoons and videos that build the excitement for the parks.

The Disney Dining Plan is available to take the worry away from planning meal costs, but it’s also flexible enough to meet everyone’s needs. At the parks, the PhotoPass photographers are strategically placed at the most picturesque locations and when they take your picture, it links directly to your My Disney Experience account. If you ask, most photographers are also happy to take your picture with your phone or your own personal camera.

9. Customer Service & Accommodation

Staying on the theme of service, the Cast Members at Disney have all earned their ears in customer service. Cast Members are helpful, enthusiastic and many will go out of their way to make your vacation as special as they can. It’s important to Disney that each guest has an experience that is unforgettable, so Cast Members routinely go above and beyond to make that happen. Disney has also made their parks fully accessible so anyone with a disability can enjoy the same experience. There is also a lot of flexibility for families in the dining plan, the resort rooms available and even the way you enjoy the attractions.

8. Pace & Relaxation

All of the Disney properties and parks are laid out in such a way that you can enjoy them at whatever pace you choose. The Imagineers have gone to great lengths to ensure that you will still experience the same joy whether you like to devour the park attractions or take your time. If you prefer to get on as many rides and attractions as you can, there are easy ways to go about it. If you’d rather take it easy and stroll through the parks while riding the rides at your own pace, there are simple ways to do that as well. The one thing everyone can enjoy, regardless of pace, is the ability to relax at the parks and resorts. The Disney experience and atmosphere is so immersive that it’s easy to leave the outside world behind – Hakuna Matata!

7. Something For Everyone

Disney has always been a place for everyone, from kids to adults. While individual tastes might be different, there is always something available that will interest you. The parks are filled with thrill rides and entertainment, but Disney also plays host to water parks for those who prefer aquatic thrills. For the sports fans, there’s ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex where you can take in more than 60 different sports that take place in their on-site venues.

There are world-class spas available at some of the resorts for people who require a little extra relaxation and pampering. For the avid golfers, Disney has 4 championship courses and for those who prefer 18-holes of mini-golf, there are 4 courses at Fantasia Gardens and Winter Summerland. There are character meet-and-greets all over, as well as interactive activities to play in the parks. There are so many things to do and try that list goes on and on.

6. Shopping

Speaking of things to do, for the shopping enthusiasts, Disney has a ton to offer. In the parks, there are specialized stores like Mouse Gear in Epcot or Memento Mori in Magic Kingdom, but a world of shopping experiences also awaits you in Disney Springs. There’s the World of Disney Store and Art of Disney, but there’s also the LEGO store, Lefty’s Left-Hand Store as well as tons of clothing and accessory stores. You could spend a whole day in Disney Springs just browsing through the shops. If you’re staying on-site, you can have all of your purchases sent to your resort for a next-day pickup so you don’t have to lug your bags with you. If you’re not staying at a resort and you purchase something in the parks, you can have it held near the park entrance for you to pick up when your day is done.

5. Rides

Thrill seekers of all kinds can find a wide variety of attractions at Disney and at every intensity level. If you are looking for rides to get your heart rate going, there is Space Mountain, Rock N’ Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest and Test Track. For the medium intensity thrill seekers, try Slinky Dog Dash, Dinosaur, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain or the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. For the low intensity riders, there’s the Na’vi River Journey, Pirates of the Caribbean and Soarin’. While the list continues on for each category, there’s one thing that remains constant in each ride, regardless of intensity, and that’s the story. Disney Imagineers are incredible storytellers and each ride has an elaborate story that makes it much more than just an average ride. The detail in the scenery and the storytelling captivates guests and not only gives them a thrill, but a memory as well.

4. Entertainment

Since one of Disney’s strengths is storytelling, it makes sense that it would carry over into their entertainment as well. Disney shows are always incredibly detailed and filled with wonder. Whether it’s the audio animatronic shows like the Carousel of Progress or the live shows like Finding Nemo – The Musical, they are always exciting and full of wonderful music, vibrant colors and a whimsical storyline. Entertainment at Disney also extends behind the scenes. There are lots of tours available to guests like the Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot or the Keys to the Kingdom tour at Magic Kingdom. When it comes to entertainment, however, you also have to mention Disney’s nighttime spectaculars: Illuminations at Epcot, Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios, Rivers of Light at Animal Kingdom and, of course, Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom. These nighttime events are so full of everything that makes Disney so special, that you can’t help but watch with an enormous smile on your face.

3. Atmosphere

When it comes to atmosphere, no one does it better than Disney. The theming of each park moves seamlessly through the different lands. The landscape and architecture are crafted to immerse you in the stories that are brought to life around you. At Disney, there is as you walk from one area to the next and it’s composed so well that you may not even notice the change. There is also the smell of freshly baked cookies wafting out of the Main Street Confectionery as you walk past. The Imagineers have truly thought of everything, from the magnificence of Cinderella’s castle all the way down to the tiny footprints in the concrete of Animal Kingdom

2. Food

For many guests, the food is easily one of the best reasons to make Disney their ultimate vacation spot. Whether it’s a quick service meal or fine dining, the food is sure to be a highlight of your trip. Disney has great restaurants that appeal to all kinds of guests. If you are looking for comfort food, you won’t have to look far to find it. If you love to explore and try different cultural cuisines, there are so many to choose from. Whether it’s a pulled pork sandwich and ribs from the Flame Tree Barbecue in Animal Kingdom, or you’re having the 6-course dinner at Victoria & Albert’s at the Grand Floridian, each experience is unique and every Disney restaurant is special in its own way.

Snacks are another big reason why the Disney food is fantastic. Everyone has their personal favorites – the snack that they have to have every time they visit. Cookies, cupcakes, cake-cups, Dole Whips and coconut patties are just a few of the many wonderful treats to try when you’re at the parks. You might have a hard time leaving room for your meals with all of the possibilities.

1. Magic

Some call it the Disney factor – the special something that makes Disney the ultimate vacation spot. All of the things on this list of reasons add up to make an unforgettable experience and incredible memories, but it’s the magic that really cements Disney as one of the greatest places to be. Walt Disney put so much care, enthusiasm and joy into his work and everyone at Disney has been carrying on that tradition. The magic starts with Walt and has grown exponentially through stories and experiences. The parks today are always growing, sharing new stories and creating new experiences while still staying true to Walt’s original vision. It’s hard to describe the magical feeling to someone who hasn’t been to Disney, but magic really is the best word for it – and it’s the reason why over 100 million people keep coming to visit the Disney parks every year.

About Ryan Miller

Ryan loves all things Disney: from the smallest details to the biggest surprises and all of the magic in between. He loves the fireworks of Wishes, the thrill of Tower of Terror and of course, the dining at Disney Restaurants. As of yet, however, he has been unable to replicate his favourite dishes and snacks at home. In between trips, you can usually find him reading about the history of the parks and attractions when he’s not at work for his local public library in Burlington Ontario. Ryan’s favourite Disney moment was proposing in front of Cinderella’s Castle to his (now) fiancée, Lauren.
