Walt Disney World is a fun and magical vacation for groups of all kinds: families, couples, groups of guys, and groups of girls. I think a Girls Getaway would be a very fun way to connect with your girlfriends in a place where there is a little something for everyone. I know I have had a great time at Walt Disney World with my female travel colleagues as well as my friends. Here are my top 10 ideas for a day out to remember with your girlfriends:
10. Visit the Characters
And when I say characters I mean the handsome ones. Maybe you start with breakfast at Trattoria al Forno at the Boardwalk so you can visit with Flynn Ryder and Prince Eric. Then you can make a FastPass to see Kristoff in For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Find Aladdin in Magic Kingdom and certainly not least, go over to Fantasyland to meet Gaston.
9. Down Time
One of my favorite afternoons was spent with my BFF poolside at the Beach Club just relaxing, talking and ordering fruity drinks. Don’t discount the value of spending a day at your resort enjoying some of the amenities and just relaxing by the pool enjoying some girl talk. After all, Walt Disney World’s resort pools are an attraction themselves.
8. Meet ALL the Princesses
You could combine this with #10 and just have a Character Extravaganza Day. As the mom of 3 boys I can seldom talk them into meeting princesses with me, so when I am there with my girls I try to meet as many as possible. You can schedule a character meal or two (I think dinner at 1900 Park Fare with Cinderella, the Evil Stepsisters and Lady Tremaine would be very fun with a group of girls). Of course Magic Kingdom has a great variety of Princesses, but traveling around the world at Epcot to meet them would be a fun day as well (& could be combined with number 3).

7. Cake Decorating Class
Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs makes some of the most beautiful cake creations, and right now you have the opportunity to take a 90 minute class to learn how. Instructors share tips and tricks, you decorate your own creation to take home (or back to your resort) to enjoy, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are included in your experience. I think this sounds like a very fun way to spend a morning with your girlfriends if you are at Walt Disney World.
6. Brunch
Brunch is a great way to kick off a day of girlfriend fun at Walt Disney World. You could really do this on your own at any restaurant that offers a breakfast menu (one of my favorites is Kona Café at the Polynesian Resort . . .they serve a flight of mimosas to add to the fun). But, some restaurants have added a special brunch option that is really geared toward a relaxing morning meal. On Sundays California Grill at the Contemporary Resort and Narcoossees at the Grand Floridian have very special brunch offerings that really kick it up a notch. Be sure to check availability as these are not offered all of the time, but a brunch at a “normal” breakfast restaurant could be done at any time.
5. A Tour or VIP Experience
When you are at Walt Disney World with a group of girls, a perfect way to spend a day is to feel like a VIP. I think this is an especially great option if you happen to be at Walt Disney World for something like a Bachelorette weekend. If you are all big Disney fans one of the behind the scenes tours would be a great option. If you want to spend the whole day the Backstage Magic Tour is a great choice; but if you only want to dedicate part of your day I really enjoy the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, Marceline to Magic Kingdom, and the Undiscovered Future World tours. The other option is to employ one of Disney’s VIP Tour Guides for the day to take you around the parks in celebrity fashion. This means no worries for anyone and easy access to everything you want to do at Disney that day.
4. Shopping!
I know that one of my favorite memories from Walt Disney World was a morning I spent shopping with my bestie at Disney Springs. So much fun! And there are so many great shops of all different types at Disney Springs it can make for a very fun day. Add in all of the great eateries and snack stops and it makes for a perfect Girls Day Out!
3. Around The World
Depending on your group of girls, Around the World at Epcot’s World Showcase could take a lot of different themes. Of course there is the typical “Drink Around the World” option, but you could also choose to snack around the world. Or desserts around the world. Or shopping around the world (one of my favorites). Maybe do entertainment around the world trying to catch as many of the live shows as possible. Spending time in World Showcase is especially great during a Festival. Luckily there are not many months that do not have a Festival going on in Epcot. The first of the year you have the International Festival of the Arts, followed by International Flower & Garden Festival, a break, then International Food & Wine Festival and International Festival of Holidays. If your trip hits during one of these times I highly recommend a girls day at World Showcase.
2. Tea
Another great memory was an afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian that I shared with my BFF. Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Tea Room is a beautiful setting for a British style tea service. It is especially fancy around 3pm with the live music begins playing in the lobby. You may choose from a variety of teas and delicious sandwiches, scones, pastries and other tasty treats. Coordinating an Afternoon Tea into your Girls Day is a really relaxing way to enjoy each other. You can book tea well in advance, so be sure to do it early (especially if you have a large group) so you don’t miss out.
1. Spa Day
At Walt Disney World you can find full service spas at Grand Floridian Resort, Saratoga Springs Resort and over at the Dolphin. Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs have a Senses Spa while the Dolphin has a Mandara Spa. If relaxation is your goal for your Girls Day Out then booking spa appointments is definitely an excellent way to spend it. You may choose everything from facials and massages to something as simple as a manicure or pedicure. Packages are also available, along with separate relaxation areas for men and women. Again, I think this would be a fantastic option for a Bachelorette weekend, or even better if you are lucky enough to have a Disney Wedding this would be a great Bridesmaid gathering the day prior to the ceremony.
Have you spend at Girls Day Out at Walt Disney World? What would you want to do with your girlfriends?
